BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
At what point did your feet/ankles/fingers start to swell up? And I don't mean a little bit of swelling, I mean swelling to the point of pain.
I'm at that point right now and I'm 32 weeks. I don't know if that's normal or not... it seems early. My next doctors appt is this coming Thursday so I'll definitely ask her, but what do you ladies think??

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
Super rapid swelling to the point of pain can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. I would call your obgyn they may want to see you before Thursday. Were you on your feet a lot today? That can cause swelling too. Also, stay off of your feet, left side lying down helps, and drink water.
If you think the pain is unbearable then I would call the emergency number they may send you to L&D for a urine test to check your numbers.

It's definitely not unbearable... just uncomfortable at this point. I should probably mention that I am down in Florida visiting my family. Arrived here yesterday. I've always had a little bit of swelling but it was never painful, and it seems like since I've been here it's been so much worse than normal. Do you think the sudden heat and humidity have something to do with it??

I am so swollen today--My rings got stuck on my finger-and my foot is huge, i feel like water jiggling in it when I walk--so weird!!!!Maybe it was the heat, hopefully it will go down :)

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
i've been swelling since 20 something weeks to that point. i wouldn't be surprised if the hot weather down there is making it worse as well as the plane ride. when i went down to houston the pressure change in the cabin mixed with the suddenly hot weather really screwed me up. feel better.

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
I started swelling at 29 weeks. Within a few weeks, none of my shoes fit and I needed to wear compression stockings every day. I ended up being put on bedrest at almost 36 weeks for high BP and severe swelling. Some swelling is normal, but if you're concerned, talk to your doctor.

I started swelling at 24 weeks. Make sure to drink lots of water and keep your feet elevated as much as possible.

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
I started at 31-32 weeks with my previous pregnancy. I had very noticable swelling all over...turns out I had pre-ecclampsia. I am sure it will be something your doctor will check on.

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
I am 38 weeks and no major swelling this pregnancy. You should see your OB if you are experiencing painful swelling. Could be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

At 31 or 32 weeks my swelling increased a lot and is getting worse each week. I don't have preeclampsia though.

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
Mine are so swolen, I not only have cankles I have kneekles . My dr said tha as the babyh gains weight sits on arterty/veins and slows the flow of blood in the feet, hence swollen ankles, I am 3 days to due date and the best advice is prop them up when oppurtunity and don;t let the appearance bother you, if one is a lot more than another or if have high BP then contact dr.

Re: BTDT & 3rd tri ladies - Question re: SWELLING
Thanks for all the info ladies!
Since I'm down here in Florida visiting my family till Tuesday night, I'll probably just give my doctor a call tomorrow and see what she thinks. I have an appt to see her on Thursday so at least I have that going for me.
