BTDT: getting rid of the bink

How many days would you say it took for your DC to forget about the bink altogether?

DD has been bink free since 8 am yesterday morning. She napped yesterday and slept last night without it. However she has been quite whiny. Usually once the bink is in her mouth she's out cold.

No advice, just wanted to say good luck. I dread the day we have to do this.

well it happened by accident. yesterday we went out and forgot to bring it. so she had no choice. then she did so good all day we were like let's try it out. it worked well.

however, if we want this to work we need to get our DS off the bink too which might be easier because he likes his thumb

Well, we are in the process of getting rid of it. We took it away from her for the whole day and it she only mentioned it a few times. We still give it to her at bedtime though. I didn't have the heart to just cut her off completely.

I did it a lot like you. One day I couldn't find one, so we did without it and I was amazed how easy it was.

With the twins I started only giving it to them at nap times and bedtime. Then it was only bedtime...Then at 9 months we quit it completely. It didnt take long for them to adjust...it was a week tops. Each night was better and better.

we are going to attempt this shortly...we have already taken it out during the day, she just gets it for her nap and bedtime. It helps her fall asleep though...and she wakes up in the middle of the night and puts it back in too...Im afrai she will stop sleeping through the night when I take it away completely.Chat Icon
