BTDT Moms - 6 Month old has a cold
I feel so bad for Sean. He has a cold - Is there anything I can do for him?
(I called the Ped and am waiting for a call back) -
I don't think he needs to be seen - No fever, he's his usual happy self - Just a runny nose and stuffed nose and a little bit of a cough - it's not in his chest though ........
Of course - I start back at work TOMORROW !!

If his nose is stuffy I would bring him in the bathroom and close the door and run the hot water so that it steams up the entire bathroom. Sit with him in there for a good 15 mins to 20 mins. It will help alot. Feel better Sean!

Re: BTDT Moms - 6 Month old has a cold
My DS had a cold also at 6 months!! Same thing, his usual happy self but with a stuffy / runny nose. Brought him in to the Ped twice. Both times since his lungs wee clear they did nothing. Told me to keep using the saline spray. It lasted about 2 weeks. But it went away on his own. It actually bothered me more then him!!!!
Oh and they also told me to use the vapor bath soap.

Also keep sucking out the snot with an aspirator. DD has the exact same cold right now. She's a snot factory. lol
Feel better Sean!

That's what I figured - it's just in his nose, not his chest at all ......I don't want to drag him into the Ped w/ kids who ARE sick for no real reason - KWIM??
Hopefully this Dr. calls me back soon !
What do you do w/ the saline spray? It just helps break up the stuffiness?
His nose is runny - so I guess that won't do anything - huh?

My DD wasn't either, at first. But she's had this cold for over two weeks now and it really does make a huge difference when there's no snot in there, so she tolerates it very well now. Doesn't even get upset anymore. lol
