BTDT Moms- Are these items important?
Looking at the registry checklist on BRU, and was wondering if these items are important to add to a registry or not. It says I need to add:
- sheet savers: those quilted pads that go on top of the sheets and tie onto the crib rails
- a bunch of different sized nipples for the dr. brown's bottles. I heard some of the sizes aren't even used, so I was just going to do sizes 1 and 2
- diapers and wipes. Should I add this or do people just buy them?
and lastly, - clothes. right now, I just have short and long sleeved onesies and socks.

- sheet savers - I would just register for 1. I used them in the bassinet but they weren't really necessary.
- a bunch of different sized nipples for the dr. brown's bottles - I don't think these are necessary for the registry.
- diapers and wipes. Should I add this or do people just buy them? - generally people just buy them.
- clothes. right now, I just have short and long sleeved onesies and socks. - Leave what you have, people will buy clothes.

Don't even know what sheet savers are lol but if it's another I have to remove and wash I don't want it lol. I don't want anything else to change if I have to in the middle Of the night lol.
The nipples for bottles I don't think we ever went past size 2 and I wouldn't register for them b/c you don't know what bottle you will end up using. Dd1 used dr Browns from the beginning dd2 couldn't use them and we switch to drop ins.
Diapers and wipes we just bought.
Dd1 I had got her entire first year wardrobe after she was born lol. I did go thought it and exchange sizes for seasons so def take a look at the sizes and thro of outfit

Re: BTDT Moms- Are these items important?
I'm a FTM but I didn't register for any of these things. I'm using Avent bottles but also breastfeeding so I only registered for the slow flow and medium flow nipples. I figured I could always get the fast flow nipples later if it seemed necessary. Though many people have told me they never used them.
I have never even heard of those sheet saver things. Seems a little over the top to me. I did register for waterproof mattress pads for under the sheets. But it's not like we're not washing the sheets anyway, ya know?
I added diapers and wipes, but mostly so I can use a completion coupon on them. I think your items HAVE to be on your registry in order to be eligible. This is also why I added everything- from vaseline to vicks to baby detergent.
I didn't add a single stitch of clothes to my registry. And I got at least one outfit from everyone at my shower. Of course from my mom and my sister got an insane amount of clothes. I did register for some bibs and swaddling blankets and didn't get a lot of those, surprisingly. Same with bed sheets.

Re: BTDT Moms- Are these items important?
I never used sheet savers with DS.
Diapers & Wipes - we registered for a large box of newborn size and a large box of Size 1's and a jumbo pack of wipes just to get us started. I don't see why not...it's good to have. After we went through those we bought our own at Costco.
Clothes - I wouldn't bother to register for anything other than the basics (like socks and mittens and onsies with long and short sleeves). People are going to buy you soooo many clothes whether you register for them or not.

Re: BTDT Moms- Are these items important?
- sheet savers: never used it. I had one that came with a bedding set and never used it. Come to think of it the bedding set was a waste too since I just used a crib sheet and that's it.
- a bunch of different sized nipples for the dr. brown's bottles: I bought all 4 levels but my DD is almost 9 months now and we are still on level 2... I tried switching to level 3 and the flow was too fast for her that she was choking. So I would stick with just 1 and 2, IMO.
- diapers and wipes. I would add it and if someone buys it, great.
- clothes. If you want to add a few things, fine but in my expereince, you will get a ton of clothes once the baby is born since a lot of people tend to give clothes as gifts. My DD and DS were mostly in sleep & play pajamas when they were first born.

We don't have a washer/dryer in our apartment so I am getting sheet savers, a lot of NYC mommies swear by them. But if you can wash sheets easily, it doesn't sound like you have a need.

Re: BTDT Moms- Are these items important?
Sheet savers - definitely do not need these
Dr Brown's Nipples - I'd start with just the size 1s. Buy others when you need them b/c they just take up space and they're cheap anyway. I changed to size 2s at 3 months and size 3s at 6 months. We never went higher than that with either of my children.
Diapers and wipes - eh, you can put them on your registry or not. You may not want to stock up on a certain brand until you make sure it works for your child.
Clothes - definitely add it! People love buying clothes and you will get a ton of stuff you don't like/want, so might as well as for what you do like/want!

Re: BTDT Moms- Are these items important?
Don't put any clothes on your registry! Especially if you know what you are having! People LOVE to buy clothes but you need gear so just avoid it (other than socks, newborn mittens, long and short sleeve onesies and sleep sacks). You will get a ton of clothes when the baby is born so worry about getting all the necessary and expensive things you need.
Sheet protectors - no. Have them and never used them.
I would say register for all different size nipples. I used them all.
Diapers and wipes...I really have no opinion on that.

Agree!
Diapers & clothes - people will buy Sheet savers- not useful Nipples- a lot of people have to switch or don't go past a certain # so don't bother

- sheet savers: those quilted pads that go on top of the sheets and tie onto the crib rails
I bought 2 and never used them. granted LO is only 4 months but if he has an accident it has to make it through his diaper, onesie, pajamas, and swaddle before it would hit the sheets and I haven't had a problem yet.
- a bunch of different sized nipples for the dr. brown's bottles. I heard some of the sizes aren't even used, so I was just going to do sizes 1 and 2
just register for the starter kits which have level 1s. i can guarantee no one is going to buy you packages of level 2 nipples plus the change doesn't happen until usually 3 months, by then you might need the larger bottles that hold up to 8oz anyway
- diapers and wipes. Should I add this or do people just buy them? I registered for them so that people knew I wanted pampers but you'll get diaper cakes and baskets with wipes i'm sure.
and lastly, - clothes. right now, I just have short and long sleeved onesies and socks. you will get a ton of clothes, register for ones that you absolutely love, if you really want them. also register for a ton of onesies, like enough for 1-2 a day, I personally put them underneath every outfit for added warmth and they get dirty very quickly with diaper explosions

I would by the mattress protector that goes underneath. They are awesome and make the mattress so much more comfy!
- a bunch of different sized nipples for the dr. brown's bottles. I heard some of the sizes aren't even used, so I was just going to do sizes 1 and 2
I would stick with size one for now. Your baby may not even like those bottles. We used platex for my DD and DS hated them! I have like 20 platex dropin bottles now in a box and had to go out and buy MAMs bec that what he liked.
- diapers and wipes. Should I add this or do people just buy them?
I would not bother. People will buy what they want and you may not like the brand they buy. You can exchange it for the type you want. This too may change after baby is born if they have a reaction to the wipes or diapers.
and lastly, - clothes. right now, I just have short and long sleeved onesies and socks
I would not register for clothes only because seasons may be off because of baby's sizing and also people will buy you clothes anyway. I would keep the tags on most newborn stuff until they are born in case it doesn't fit.

I don't know what sheet savers are.
I wouldn't register for nipples because you don't know if the baby will take to Dr. Brown's.
The cheapest way to get diapers/wipes is amazon subscribe and save. It never occurred to me to register for them.
People are going to buy you clothes, BUT I would register for some newborn size things. You can return them if they're too small but everyone bought me clothes in 0-3 and 3-6 and dd was a peanut. None of it fit her.

The only thing from your list that I found useful was sheet savers but I actually used waterproof burp cloths instead under DS head when he was first born in the bassinet in our room. He would occasionally spit up so it helped us. The other things on you list people will buy

thanks everyone- I think I'm going to leave all of the items off of my registry. I hate clutter, so I don't want to be stuck with a ton of things I will never use!
