btdt moms - necessity items help
My shower is Saturday and I took Monday off because I really want to do all my returns/buying this weekend if I can to get it out of the way. I am posting this now because I know the weekend is slow. I am looking for help on the amount of items that I know I am probably going to get so much in that I need to have. I do not want to have too many of each. Any opinions would be appreciated
Washcloths (already know I am going to have two packs of 8) Towels (already know I am going to have two packs of 3) Sheets (already know I am going to have 3) Changing pad covers (already know I am going to have 1) Bibs Onsies (plain white ones in each size)
Also bottles – I know babies might not take to a certain brand and I know I don’t really need the 4 oz but how many should I have of each ( I am only formula feeding)
Thanks so much!!!

Re: btdt moms - necessity items help
I will help you out:
Washcloths (already know I am going to have two packs of 8) - I think this is good, you won't give the baby a bath every day at first. Sheets (already know I am going to have 3) - I think this should be fine. Changing pad covers (already know I am going to have 1) - You will def need more than one at first for messy diaper changes, maybe 3? Bibs
Also bottles – I know babies might not take to a certain brand and I know I don’t really need the 4 oz but how many should I have of each ( I am only formula feeding) - When I formula fed my first son I think I had 8 bottles of the 9 oz (or whatever the larger size was) that way I had enough bottles for a 24 hour period.

Re: btdt moms - necessity items help
I never really used the baby towels. They aren't very absorbent. I think I stopped using them around 6 months and just used our regular towels.
I wouldn't bother with 4 oz bottles either. By 3 months we weren't using them anymore. we only had 6 8oz bottles and that was fine.

Re: btdt moms - necessity items help
I think washcloths, towels, and sheets you are totally fine.
Bibs - I had at least 20-30. And used all of them. You will use them their first year. And many times you will use multiple ones in a day. And as they start solids they will stain and you will throw them out. IMO - can never have too many bibs.
Same goes for onesies. I put them under everything. Helped protect his pants from blowout diapers. And if one got stained I'd throw it out and not feel guilty about it.
Changing pad cover - I had 2 with DS and it was perfect. I would change it weekly unless there was a blow out and it was always helpful to have that backup.
eta - can't help with bottles because I EBFd DS.

Re: btdt moms - necessity items help
Here's what worked for me - (as the time goes on you might increase your inventory to get you extra days between laundry loads)
The sheets / washclothes sounds like a good amount.
Bibs - 12/15 Burpees - 12/15 Changing Pad Covers - 3
Bottles - well thats a toughie - start with a limited varied selection, there will be ones that you like for some reason, and more importantly some that LO likes. If you get an overload of anything, I found it helpful to return and hold on to the credit, you will be at the store more than you care to believe.

Re: btdt moms - necessity items help
Washcloths (already know I am going to have two packs of 8)
This is plenty
Towels (already know I am going to have two packs of 3)
Plenty
Sheets (already know I am going to have 3)
I would get another. I had 2 and bought 2 more. This works out well for us and I suggest having 4
Changing pad covers (already know I am going to have 1)
I say 4 at a minimum. I remember going through all 4 one day. I also say 3 recieving blankets to put over the cover so that way if you get poop on the blanket you don't have to change the whole cover. I folded them in 3rds and it worked great.
Bibs
I say 2 12packs of the plain bibs. You won't use them until about 4 or 5 months but you go through a lot with teething and eating.
Onsies (plain white ones in each size)
I say 2 5pks of nb, and 2 5pks of 0-3. They run small but I just love them. I also highly suggest the newborn zipper pj's. I bought 2 5pks and could not live without them. I wish I had known that earlier. I would have saved a boat load on carters nb sleepers
Also bottles – I know babies might not take to a certain brand and I know I don’t really need the 4 oz but how many should I have of each ( I am only formula feeding)
I highly suggest Tommee Tippee. I bought 2 2pks of the 4oz, but I was pumping as well and I was always washing bottles. I suggest, if you're bottle feeding, to get at least 4 4oz and 4 8oz.
I would also buy Mylocin drops and gripe water just in case. I remember wanting and needing them at 3am.
I also suggest the plain cloth diapers from gerber in the 12pk. They make great burp clothes and they can also go on the changing table

Re: btdt moms - necessity items help
I agree that you will have enough washcloths, towels and sheets.
Changing Pads-I would get one more changing pad cover and a 6 pack of cloth diapers to put under baby when you change her on changing pad so you just wash the diaper and can save the changing pad, but of course there will be times she will have an accident on the pad too and so one back one is a good idea.
Bibs- if formula feeding you will need at least 15-20. My son spit up a lot and when they teeth you go through a lot a day!
Onsies- I would get a couple sets in each size good for hanging around the house in the summer and bedtime.
Bottles- don't bother with the 4oz bottles- I formula fed too and you should just get the 8 oz so you don't have to get more bottles later. I would get at least 4-6 bottles.
