BTDT Moms: Braxton Hicks vs REAL contractions and confusion
OK, so when DS was born, the only contractions I remember were down low period like contractions. I don't remember ANYTHING on top of my belly.
But my doctor says those are Braxton Hicks. My cousin who's had 4 babies says real contractions are the ones I've been having, down low.
So what's the real deal?
What did Braxton Hicks vs. real contractions feel like for you?
Oh, and BTW I'm having a contraction down low AS WE SPEAK and it hurts.

You're still pregnant??
Sorry
For me, they started down low, and then moved to all over my belly - and then I had back labor. Fun!
They were absolutely nothing like BH for me so I had no problem knowing that they were the real thing.

Re: BTDT Moms: Braxton Hicks vs REAL contractions and confusion
Braxton hicks were sporadic and kind of only in one spot. They'd also go away if I laid down or drank a lot of water. Real contractions were my entire belly tightening and the pain went into my back. They wouldn't go away no matter what I did.
That being said, earlier on I just felt crampy, so I went to the Dr. and I was having contractions, just not strong ones. So if you feel like something could be up, go to the dr!

My contractions were only down low, they just felt like bad period cramps to me. Braxton Hicks stopped whenever I changed positions. Like if I stood up if I was sitting or vice versa. My Braxton Hicks didn't hurt, they were just tight. If yours hurts I would say they are real! GL!!

For me the BH were up high and not really painful. The real ones were low and got increasingly more painful and uncomfortable.

That's what I'm thinking! I've had belly tightening that didn't hurt, and that's what I thought BH were.... And then I also get the bad period cramps, which the doc is saying are BH, but I don't seem to agree because that's how I felt when I was in labor with DS......so now I think I am just highly confused!
And YES, I AM still pg and went to the doc this morning...still thick and closed....unreal......

Mine are always up high so I know they are BH. I have yet to experience a full-belly contraction but at 37 weeks, I know it's coming!

Re: BTDT Moms: Braxton Hicks vs REAL contractions and confusion
This is what my dr told me...
"If you're experiencing contractions, change your activity and if the contractions stop, they were just BH." In other words, if you're laying down, stand up, if your walking lay down. Good luck
