BTDT Moms: Christening with children
I am not having a big to do in a hall or anything, Jim and I are taking over a small restaurant for a luncheon after the service.
I have about 10 or kids coming from the ages of 1-7, most of them being around the ages of 2-3. I didn't want to hire someone to entertain them so here are my questions:
What can I bring to entertain them? Do you think if I set up a table by the bar area with coloring books, crayons, etc that would be enough?
Should I consider hiring someone?
I plan on the kids sitting with their parents--should I have food for the kids? Or is 2-3 too young for this? should I bring in pizzas?
I seriously have no idea.

I worked in catering for awhile and craft tables work great.
Another good idea, as opposed to hiring someone, is giving out goodie bags to each individual child (a little more work).

ditto. Maybe the resturant has kids meals though so you don't have to get your pizza. Most have chicken fingers and such.

I think coloring books, crayons is plenty. maybe bring a game they could play? I personally wouldn't hire someone.
The children at our christening either were with their parents or paired off with the other kids on their own.
The restaurant also had a children's meal.

Exactly. Check with the restaurant to see what they offer for kids. Perhaps they can do mac and cheese or fries and chicken fingers. Pizza is also a good option like you suggested.
In terms of entertaining the kids, a crafts table is perfect. Get some stickers and playdoh as well and you should be all set.
