BTDT moms ... cold symptoms, teething, some etiquette questions!
DS got his first cold, the same time a tooth started to really emerge, its pushing through now and the cold is still going...
He had a fever one night, and the next the tooth broke. I have heard numerous other moms say that's how it happens when a tooth comes. He's still runny and congested, but no fever. Its been over a week. I can see the tooth next to it, looking more and more ripe.
So, I don't know what to do with him. We have so many events and classes this week, do I keep him home? I don't want to get other kids sick.
Whats the etiquette?
Also my MIL is convinced its more than just a runny nose from teething, because he's very congested.

if you are worried its a cold i'd talk DC to the ped to be sure. DS has had a runny nose and a little congested for 2 weeks and my ped said yesterday it's the change of weather.

so if he's still runny, is it a bad call to bring him to a mommy and me music class?
He's acting fine, other than sneezing snot

Eh, as long as he's feeling ok and acting ok, I wouldn't halt any activities. Many babies will stay congested for a long time while they're teething. I know Chase has been congested for what seems like an eternity, but since he's acting fine and no fever, I'm not keeping him away from any other kids.

If he's actually sneezing snot, and not just stuffy, I wouldn't bring him to a class with other kids. Even if you kept the stuff he touched seperate from the other kids' stuff, you will probably still be wiping his nose and touching other stuff. If he's just stuffy then it might be ok. I'm going through this right now, DS has an awful cold, caught from his big brother, and he's teething as well. I can't tell you how many times I am wiping his poor little face and I am trying to be consistent about cleaning my hands but I know I miss it once or twice. I'm watching him toss and turn on the monitor as we speak. I hope it passes quickly for both our little guys!

Re: BTDT moms ... cold symptoms, teething, some etiquette questions!
If I kept my kids home every time they had boogery noses, we'd never get out.
BTW- my DD's allergist told me that green does NOT mean infection, especially in the morning. *Old* mucus, like when it's been sitting up there overnight, will be green.
Any symptoms other than a snotty nose (fever, vomiting) we don't go.
