BTDT moms: early labor question
someone please tell me what aches and pains you felt in the beginning....
I'm due in 2 weeks... I've never lost the mucous plug. No bloody show. for the last few months, the braxton hicks have been somewhat regular, and barely noticable (a completely painless hardening of the belly).
Over the last several days, I've been feeling occassional: 1) cervical pains-like something is hitting the cervix for 1-2 seconds... then it goes away
2) menstrual like cramps at the bikini line
3) pains in various portions of the uterus... not all over, just on one side or the other... sort of menstrual like, but higher up.
I'm trying to figure out if these are promising signs, or just 'your belly is too huge for its own good' pains.....
thanks for your input!

I don't have any answers, but wanted to say thanks for asking this question - I'm experiencing similar stuff.

Re: BTDT moms: early labor question
I had af like cramps on and off the week before hand. The day before the af like cramps lasted all day. My bloody show was the night before I went into labor. Lost the mucus plug on the day I went into labor. My contractions felt more like af cramps then sharp pains.
Hope this helps

Re: BTDT moms: early labor question
I'm surfing the net right now for info...
I found this website: pre-labor signs
I totally have the mild cramping, flu-like symptoms, and soft bowel movements... so I'm 1/2 way there
I keep wondering about this elusive burst of energy. I promise you it won't happen with me......
I also found THIS website with similar info.
I just want Scone to finally arrive

Re: BTDT moms: early labor question
my plug has been coming out a little every day for over a week now. I do feel something is hitting my cervix, I think it's the baby headbutting his way out
many menstrual cramps at the bikini line esp at night and in the early AM
I haven't had any pains higher up in the uterus though . I am already 3 CM and 80% effaced. apparently I can stay like this for a while. has your doctor done an internal?

Re: BTDT moms: early labor question
nope... they don't do internals until 39 weeks.... but your situation sounds quite similar to mine... except I don't have any signs of the plug yet

Re: BTDT moms: early labor question
Not sure about "burst of energy" but the day I delivered I spent painting painting the nursery, moving furniture out, putting the nursery furniture in, putting it all together, moving mattresses downstairs, vacuuming etc. At 1:30 am I woke up with some cramping - like period cramps. I then felt like I had to go - sorry TMI - pump. Just a lot of pressure down there so I kept thinking it was gas - since I was 37 weeks only. I sat in the living room an the "cramps" just started getting worse. When I went to the bathroom again I noticed some blood. I didn't lose my plug beforehand or anything. I got up to wake Chris and that's when my water broke. For me, it started with nothing more than period like cramps. I had no other signs. Four hour later (thank God I went fast because those period like cramps turned into full painful contractions real fast for me), my was here.

Re: BTDT moms: early labor question
I don't know, but I've been experiencing the same type of symptoms for about a week now. I was in on Thurs and I'm not dilated but I'm "thin"- who knows what that means?! I'm also having contractions every 5 min or so, but like you I have had them for awhile now. I'm going OOT for a wedding today so hopefully the little guy stays put for another day for me!!!

Same here. I also began to have a little bit of back pain, but I never lost my mucous plug. When I went for my amnio it turned out I was in "soft labor" or early labor for 3 days. I did not even really know it, although there was kind of a rhythm to the cramps (I also felt what I thought were heart flutters, but it was just my uterus contracting). When they hooked me up to the machine I was having mild contractions every 7 minutes steadily. By the time the test was over they were every 3 minutes and getting noticable. 3 hours or so later I had real contractions & got prepped for my c-section.
