BTDT moms: How do you not lose your minds...
from potty training?????????
I had decided that I was just not going to put anymore diapers on her. I used the last of a case of diapers and really didn't want to continue buying them. i do have several packs of pullups though.
So this morning, we put on a pullup. I kept reminding her that she has to tell me when she has to go. Well, she pooped in the pullup. So I figured, she just thinks it is a diaper, and I put panties on her. I took her to the potty every hour, and she went every hour. Then it was naptime. I put a pullup over her panties. She woke up dry and we went potty ASAP when she got up. An hour later, potty again and she had a streak of poop in her panties. Shortly after that there was a HUGE puddle on the floor. I brought it to her attention, cleaned it up, changed her panties and went on with it. Another hour later, I asked her if she had to go. She said no. Her favorite show was on so I figured I would let her watch the end (10mins). Then we went potty. Well, she had already gone in her panties -- some peepee and a poop. I tried not to make a big deal since I did let her put it off but I corrected her nonetheless. I also put her on the potty again at that point. Well, 20mins later, she is soaked again from peepee. I was so angry!!! I ended up telling her that if she is going to be a baby, she is getting diapers back on and I opened the case I had in the closet and put it on her.
Maybe I shouldn't have put the diaper on her, but I am at my wits end with this already!!!!! I am trying to deal with keeping my new baby from needing a feeding tube and this was just more than I could handle. I just don't know what to do anymore.
How did you keep from losing it with every "accident"? And I put that in quotes because I really don't feel like it was a true accident. I don't even think she is trying. If she were trying and having true accidents I don't think I would mind so much. But every time she went in her panties, she still didn't tell us, and didn't seem to care.
Anybody have any suggestions?

You have to expect the accidents to happen...and with Kerri I did not go back to diapers at all once we potty trained. She had a few accidents but if you keep consistent your DD will get it. Also I wouldn't have her tell me when she needed to go...if I asked and she said no I would still bring her....stick to a schedule at first.

Re: BTDT moms: How do you not lose your minds...
Believe me, I know there will be accidents. But I guess I feel like she isn't even trying. She was 3 in April and she should be more aware of when she has to go and certainly when she HAS gone.
Also, how do you handle the accidents? Especially at her age? Do I just clean it up and let it go? Or do I draw her attention to it and correct her? Do I bother putting her on the potty after an accident?
Also, how do you clean poop out of the panties? I feel like I just want to throw them out, but I know in no time I'll have none left. Finally, how do you get their "bum" good and clean with just dry paper, especially after a poop accident?

I remember watching on the show The Doctors, they had a woman who claims she can train in a day. So I watched it and took her tips and they really worked for Kaitee.
The biggest tip I got from that show was to have them help clean up the mess they make. It really helps them learn it was a mistake(without you having to discipline them for it, or without making a big embarrassing deal out of it). Kaitee potty trained in 3 days (with only 3 accidents) at 27 months old when I did this. While it sounds gross, I really think it was what Kaitee needed. I didn't force her to clean it, I would say "oops, you peepeed on the floor, can you help me clean it up?".
I had her put the paper towels we used to clean them up in the toilet and I would tell her "peepee goes in the potty". If she went #2 in her panties I had her help me "dump" it into the potty and said the same thing. We use the wet flush-able wipes for #2.
When she went #2 in her panties I dumped the #2 and washed them, if it was a messy #2 I would have probably thrown them away.

Re: BTDT moms: How do you not lose your minds...
This is going to sound crazy, but is there a piece of clothing she loves? Like, does she love dresses? Because this worked for us and Megan was trained in 3 days.
I made a HUGE deal about her dressing like a "princess." She wore dresses every day (which is WAY easier to train in anyway) and "fancy shoes." She was SO adament about not wetting her "princess clothes" that she basically trained herself.
The first day I was filled with anxiety. I didnt know how I was going to take the accidents all the time. So..I made a potty chart, she put a sticker on every time she went. 10 stickers = toy at toys r us. Then she got an m and m every time she went.
I was scared that she was going to think she was going to get candy every day for the rest of her life..but she forgot about it after about 3 weeks. She forgot about her "princess" clothes every single day after 2 weeks. She was so excited to wear "fancy" clothes every day that it totally worked for us. I know it sounds far fetched and I dont know if your daughter likes getting dressed up but it totally worked here. Good luck..it's hard and I feared training..but it was one of the easiest processes after I figured out what worked for her!

Re: BTDT moms: How do you not lose your minds...
we also did a sticker chart. The stickers were enough of a reward for her. I got huge stickers for when she went #2. I would show her the stickers and say "do you want one? if you use the potty you can pick one".

I agree completely, throw away the diapers and the pull ups
she will get there, try not to get frustrated

Have her help you clean it up..try not to yell or get frustrated, try to encourage her to make it on the potty next time

use a baby wipe
I also used a sticker chart in the beginning which helped
