BTDT moms of 2 or more close in age: Stroller question

So when is born, DS will be about 3.5 years old. Right now, we use a stroller/shopping cart etc for DS when we're out and about -- not because he doesn't want to walk -- but because he DOES! If we let him out, he will run around like a rat in a maze no matter where we are. And he just keeps going. I'm not sure if by 3.5 this will be out of his system (I REALLY hope so).

Would love your opinions and suggestions on this because I still feel like if I buy a double stroller, it won't be too much longer after is born that DS'll be too big for a stroller or it won't be necessary at all... and then I'm stuck with it <?>

Also if you feel the double stroller is best, which do you highly recommend?

Normally I would say don't bother if your older one is 3.5 with a double stroller, but since he is a stroller kid it might be beneficial.

My boys were only 14 months apart so we had a double but given the opportunity now at 3.5 and 4.5 they would jump into a stroller in a heart beat.

If I were you I would look for a good 2nd hand one on craigslist or ebay. Just make sure the stroller can have the newborn in it and you should be fine.

When DS#2 was born DS#1 was 2 yrs old. We got a used double stroller because I didn't think DS#1 would be using it much longer. He is now 3 and still uses a stroller. We ended up buying a much better stroller. I regret not doing that from the beginning. I feel like we wasted money on the used stroller.
Anyways, we purchased the City Mini GT. DS is 42" tall and 42lbs and still fits. We did not use the infant seat with it because DS#2 was already 10 months old when we got this stroller.

My boys are a littl over 2 & 4 and I still use the double -
It just makes life so much easier to go to shopping etc when they are used to 'having' to sit in the stroller ........

Maybe a sit & stand would be better for your age gap? that way your older son can either sit or stand up - but you still have some control over him !!
