BTDT moms with chidren close in age?
I am pregnant with DC #2 and DD and the baby will be 23 months apart
did you switching your DC to a toddler/full bed before the new baby arrived???
I am definitely getting this baby all new furniture but I am debating to convert DD's crib to a bed so I can use her mattress and breathable bumpers for the new baby?? And just then buy DD a new mattress for her bed
What has everyone done???
Is 23 months too little for a full bed?

My twins were 26 months when my third child was born. They stayed in their cribs until they were about 2.5 and then went into toddler beds.
They are a little over 3 now and still in the toddler beds. They probably would have done ok in a twin or full sized bed, they sleep in them when they are at my parents house.

My girls are 14 months apart. I waited until the baby was 3 months old(my oldest was 17 months) to switch her over to a twin bed.

I did not reuse crib mattress at all. By the time they're 2 those mattresses are pretty worn and broken in. NBs should sleep on very firm mattresses to reduce SIDS risks- so I never thought to reuse.

Is 23 months too little for a full bed?
My kids are 18 mos. apart, and we did not feel that DD was ready for a real bed by the time DS was out of the bassinet at around 5 weeks. We borrowed a crib from a family member and used it for about 8 months, and then DD went straight into a full bed.
JMO, but I wouldn't push the issue of a bed until your NB is a bit older...can you imagine being woken up every 3 hours through the night AND having to deal with your oldest getting out of bed however many times a night?

My boys are 10.5 months apart. There was no way that I would even consider taking my oldest out of the crib. My oldest is now 29 months & still in his crib. It's been much easier with two in cribs bc no one can get out without going in to them.

my DC are 23 months apart...
DS was in a twin at 13 months old...
DS was in a twin at 8 months old...
DS was in a full a little over 2.
i would convert the crib to a bed... the earlier the transition, IMHO the easier it is...
both my kids HATED the crib... and all they ever knew was a bed.
makes like much much easier

YES! My kids are 2 years, 2 weeks and one day apart. :)
My son got his full size bed right before the baby was born, just to be sure it was way before she needed his crib.
We never mentioned anything about him having to give up his bed for the baby. It was ALL about him getting a great new big boy bed with beautiful new bedding and new mattress. Everyone was all excited and all the grandmas and granpas and aunta and uncles came to admire it and congradulate him on such a great new step! He loved it and was all over the idea and took to it very well.

Mine are 12 months apart so obviously we didn't switch her out at that point. by 15 months my older DD was climbing out of her crib. At 18 months she got a twin bed with a rail and she does great with it.

Thank you for all the information. I think I am going to leave DD in her crib since she is such an amazing sleeper and and has never once tried to climb out of it. I think I am actually going to hold off on buying a new crib mattress for DC #2 until she is ready to go into her new crib. Alot can change from now to then with DD so there is no need to rush anything.
