BTDT Moms re: allergic reactions-need help
Does this sound like an allergic reaction?
My DS is 8 months and was given the OK for cheese the other day. He's had it 3x so far and today he ended up with about 6 or 7 red marks (hives?) on his back and a diaper rash that came from out of nowhere. He's been having yogurt for a few weeks so this is the only new food we've introduced. My older ones never had a reaction to anything so I'm not sure if this would be related to the cheese. Of course I wont give it again till I speak to the dr. but I'm curious if anyone can shed any light on this. Thanks.

it could be a reaction but isn't he already on milk based formula? If so, he would have already shown some signs of a food allergy to milk.
Emily had facial swelling or vomiting whenever we'd try and give her cheese or yogurt, but she was on soy formula the whole time so that was her only introduction to milk.
I'd pull the dairy products for a few days, try again with another piece of cheese then and see what happens. If the rash comes back then I'd def. let the ped know.

Thanks Teri. Yes, hes on milk based formula. I was looking on line and I mainly found symptoms like vomitting. After I posted this I tried to give him his evening bottle and he was refusing, which he did with his midday bottle as well. His top 4 teeth are on the verge of coming out - the middle 2 are jutting out of the gums without breaking through yet so now Im thinking it might be the teeth

Hives can be caused by a virus as well as an allergy. Is Matty showing any signs of being sick? How long ago did he get over the last illness?
ETA: did you give him Benadryl? 1/4 tsp.?

yeah, I'm thinking that it wasn't from an allergy. IMO you'd be seeing more signs than just the few hives from the formula.
Emily did have all over hives from a virus too - maybe that is it or it's just irritation from teething.
