BTDT Moms....I need advice on how to handle temper tantrums...
DD doesnt hit, bite or pinch. Thats one thing I can say, thank goodness (i hope I just didnt jinx myself).
Its just that she is going through the terrible 2s really bad. It just started a couple of weeks ago.
What do i do when she starts crying and whining like crazy. Do I just ignore it?

I found the best way to handle it is to tease her out of it. I will distract her with something else in a happy voice and act if everything is ok. This is my BEST case senario. Sometimes I get frustrated and just yell at her. NOT the best advice

My advice is to ignore her completely, and let her burn out if you can.
She is looking for attention, positive or negative. So if you leave her alone, she should stop eventually!
Good luck! Remember, its completely normal (even my angel throws a tantrum every few weeks)

my dd is only 18m but she has these tantrums.. I try and distract her from what it is thats making her have them. Once in awhile that doesnt work and have to just ignore but only if shes not endangering herself.

Re: BTDT Moms....I need advice on how to handle temper tantrums...
For me, I have noticed that the whining and subsequent crying is usually for attention. I try to redirect her by asking her to help me. For us, if it happens, it happens when I am making dinner. I have found that including her and having her help me makes a world of difference. She loves it and it gives her the attention she is seeking but in a positive way. If she is whining because she wants something, like a fruit pop but hasn't finished her dinner. I repeat what the expectation is for her to get what she wants and if she doesn't want to do that, then she isn't getting a pop. An example, we were having dinner the other night. She gobbled up her pork chop but wouldn't touch a piece of broccoli. I told her she had to try one bite of broccoli if she wanted a pop. She didn't try it and didn't get a pop. The next night, I didn't have that problem. My dd is 2 1/2.
