BTDT with CIO
My SIL is trying to get her DD to sleep in her crib. She has tried letting her CIO, but with no luck. How long do you let them cry? She waited an hour.

I'm better at it than my DH, but I'm really not that great at it. We go 15 minutes, tops, but that's for naptime.

Re: BTDT with CIO
I have waited an hour - or longer sometimes.
It's not an hours straight of the can't breathe type of cry. That will come and go. It's whiny, crying, and then a deeper cry.
Only she knows her DC and his cries - and what his limits are - every baby is different!

I pretty much did the same......he was awake more than an hour, but not a full cry the whole time. He would sit down and play, then lay down and then stand up and cry again. It took a few days of that and then it slowly got less and and less -- within a week he was going to sleep within 10 minutes.
