BTDTM-any advise on switching to milk & drinking from sippy cup??
So now that my dd has turned 1 dr said that I need to switch her to milk...he suggested I transition her by giving her some milk in a cup (to see how her stomach reacts) and then after a few days switch out one bottle and then after a week or so replace all the bottles with formula.
So bascially DD takes a sip and then doesnt want anymore... AND she pretty much only drinks water other than her bottle...from a sippy cup that she bites...I've tried like five diff sippy cups to try to get her to move up to drinking from a straw but she keeps biting it and doesnt suck from those cups!
my mother suggested giving her milk in a seperate cup so she knows one is water and one is milk-but she doesnt drink from any other cup!
Any advise on transitioning to milk AND how do I get her to drink from a straw cup?!
thanks so much ladies!

I skipped sippy cups and started right on straws at 6 months, so i am no hep for getting her off of one and onto another. But...have you tried the small playtex straw cup? You can squeeze it so the water starts to come up amd then maybe she will realize what she is supposed to do. That's what I used with DS.
As far as going from formula to milk, go slow. One ounce milk and 7 oz formula for a few days, then 2 and 6 for a few days, etc. Also remember, as ling as she is getting her calcium elsewhere (yogurt, cheese, etc) milk isn't 100% necessary.
As far as going from bottles to cups, when I started switching to milk I changed the mid day bottle to a straw cup. A week or so later I switched the morning one, and when he was on full milk I changed the night one. But again, he had already been drinking straw cups for 6 months at that point. Again, its recommended she come off the bottle, but it isn't necessary right now. Too many changes at once will just make life confusing for her and stressful for you.
Take it one step at a time. Good luck!!
