ABSOLUTELY!! As a teacher, I try to nip it in the bud as soon as I see it. I have zero tolerance for bullying.

Re: Bullying

yes i do...

it is so sad.. I teach 3rd grade and have had a few bullies in my classroom over the years. This year I had a girl who bullied others. She made other kids in the class feel so bad. She was a bossy little thing.
I dont tolerate it and I put her in her place. Shes been like that since she was little- she'll never change. But as long as she was in my classroom she didnt get away with it.

Re: Bullying

I guessi just feel that if the schools knew they could be held accountable...and sued for a large sum of money in extreme cases...

maybe there would be less of it?

Completely.

Agreeing with Neenie, the parents and the child should also be held accountable for bullying

Yes! I remember an episode back in JH, I wasnt involved, but a group of kids just bashed on this one girl during lunch. Not physically, but they mentally hurt her.
I felt so bad, I didnt know what to do. The girl ended up transferring schools. This girl did think she was "all that" and more, however, thats no excuse and Yes schools should be held responsible.

What do you mean by responsible?

I think it's the school's responsibility to take measures to try to stop bullying....but if it happens, I don't think it's the school's fault, necessarily.
I don't know of any school that would ignore bullying when it's going on and they are made aware of it....but if they did ignore it - then they would certainly be responsible.

Yup I agree!! It should be a group effort to put an end to bullying!!! It takes parents and the schools to educate children and make sure bullying does not occur.

Honestly I was never bullied but I always stuck up for people that were!!! It makes me sick!! and I agreed with Dr. Phil's son when he said people who just sit by and watch it happen and do nothing are just as guilty as those who are doing it!

That in the case of severe bullying has occurred and can be proven....THEY ARE HELD LIABLE
