Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
i know that the car seat safety poster (i am blanking on his name, my apologies) has said that the bundle me is NOT safe....but their website says otherwise. i'm confused....

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
i used one for my DS... my DD is a little on the heavier side and when i put it in the car seat she was very uncomfortable and she sweats a lot...
So i got the:
Kiddopotamus® Posh Pouch® Premium Infant Carrier Cover in Pink
This Posh Pouch® Premium baby carrier cover makes it simple and safe to keep baby warm when out and about in car seats and strollers. The water and wind resistant faux suede outer shell protects baby from the elements, and inside is completely lined in soft ivory faux fur to insulate baby from the cold. The elasticized edge secures easily and safely around carrier, and also fits easily around infant size car seats and standard size strollers. With no bulky fabric behind baby, there is no need to loosen harness straps. Cover zips open completely for easy access. The collar also folds upward to shield away any wind or cold. A handy pocket stores essentials while keeping them out of baby's reach. Cover is also reversible with a double-sided zipper for two distinct looks. 50% faux suede/50% faux plush fur. Machine washable. Imported. Ages newborn to 22 pounds.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
I don't know who you are referring to but considering the fact that the bundle me has slits that allow the seat belt to strap onto the child as if they weren't wearing anything I would think that they are pretty safe. It's not like a coat that is in between the child and the seat belt.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
*Technically* you are not supposed to you ANYTHING aftermarket on a carseat, mainly b/c the seats aren't crashed tested with them.
That being said, my DH is a FDNY EMT and they can install the seats and we used a bundle me when DS was an infant.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
I used the bundle me all winter and plan to use it again. In fact, I used it a couple of times last week when it was really cold out.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
I was wondering the same thing ( iread that on the website too). The Bundle Me is not that thick and doesn't twist the straps. My snugride came with a removable piece for the baby's head. I don't understand why that is safe but the bundle me isn't.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
Between hubby and me, we have over 30 years in the EMS/Fire Department field. We have seen our fair share of accidents involving infants. Not once did a bundle me or other type of car seat product, such as a seat cover ever have a negative impact on a child when they were involved in an accident. As long as the child is properly secured in the seat and the seat is properly installed in the car, I see no problems with using one. I used one with the kids I watched and I plan on using one when Junior decides to make his appearance. It is all up to the parent/caregiver to use it or not. That's just my opinion....

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
like a pp said, b/c it has the slots in the back, I dont see how its interfering with the straps. Its not like a puffy winter jacket. I used it and will def use it again for my next child

They do make a Bundle Me Toddler! I have the thin version (for spring/fall) that I bought for DD's stroller but never ended up using. LINK

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
We used it with DD and it was amazing. I wanted to snuggle in it too. I don't really see how it's that dangerous, I know you're not supposed to have anything between the baby and the seat, but the straps do go through it still so it's secure.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
okay - i think i'm sold..... i wanted to get it to use when we go to niagara - not for 'every day use' - she'd likely be way too hot - but there, she's getting bundled up - and we'll do layers - so we can remove layer after layer if she gets too hot!

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
We had one of these before the Bundle me but she was so little that her head was below the face opening So we got a Bundle Me. I am at a loss this winter becaus she is out of the infant seat & I have the Great Puffy Winter Coat Dilemma now.

We used the bundle me's in DD's infant car seat.
We have a bundle me and a bundle me light in the toddler size. I use it in DD's stroller. If it's really cold I warm up the car for a while with the heat blasting and bring one of the crocheted blankets people gave us or a fleece blanket from inside to put over her.
I NEVER put her in her seat in her puffy coat, that is for outside play only. She wears a fleece jacket only when in the car. Those youtube videos showing kids in big coats in carseats scared the crop out of me.

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
I know it's so contradictory. You would think to get these items in retail stores they'd all have to undergo tests. But no, lets make it harder on parents - LOL
Recently I participated in a car seat inspection given by the Nassa PD. The officer told me absolutely NO after market items. He said one of the best features my new minivan has is the auto start, so he said warm up your car before getting the kids in. If I had an attached garage that would have been an even better situation.
To be totally honest, I still plan on using the JJ Cole Bundle Me I used to use with my first DD b/c of the quality assurance it offers and safety testing. Not sure I'd use another brand unless the same tests were done.

this is the one I will be using too...quick question, what does your DD wear when in it? Just regular clothes, do u dress her with heavier clothing, or do you put on a blanket over her too (under the cover I mean). Trying to figure out how warm this thing is for when DD comes

Re: Bundle Me ?????? (car seat safety?)
I didn't use the bundle me in the car seat. I installed it and everything, but it just seemed so loose and unsafe to me. I do have a bundle me for the stroller though, so don't totally give up on it.
