Business Name Question...
Can 2 people have the same business name as long as they are not in the same state?
I am starting my own business but want to make sure before I pick a name. TIA

Are you doing the same type of work/service? I think the issue is when there could be an overlap of services, and customers could be confused.

legally, as long as the name isnt branded, i believe as long as the name is different than any other in the state you are incorporating in, you are fine.
and if its an LLC, Corp, etc it can be the same.
Like
Meaghan, LLC and Meaghan Corp would be two different entities.

I opened a little jewelry business last year and, at no time, did anyone check to see if my business name was already used. I registered my business though Nassau County.
