Buying wine bottles in bulk...
Has anyone ever bought wine bottles in large quantities?
I wasn't going to do favors for my wedding, just a donation, but now I may want to buy full size wine bottles as favors.
If you've ever bought in bulk, where did you get them from, and if you don't mind sharing, how much was it per bottle/case? I'm wondering if I'd be better off going to one of the vineyards out east and getting them there instead of a local liquor store.

Re: Buying wine bottles in bulk...
I gave wine as a gift to my board members after my term as President for the NYC NAIW.
I love this place so I got them here. I didn't ASK for it but they individually bagged each one in a nice shimmery bag.

ETA there was definitely a discount for buying the case vs # of bottles. I gave them Woop Woop ! Its an Australian Shiraz that is VERY good but also sorta cheeky in its name and bottle design. I figured it suited my needs LOL consider me and all! Its not an expensive wine but very good. I can't remember the price anymore, its been awhile.

Re: Buying wine bottles in bulk...
We bought 14 cases of wine for favors at our wedding. Bottles & Cases in Huntington has bottles of red or white that are 3 bottles for $10. Because we bought so many cases, they gave us a small discount off that price. And so many people hve commented that they really liked the wine!

I buy cases (12 bottles) of red directly from a vineyard because I love the wine and can't find it in the store. They usually have free shipping and or a discount associated with ordering a case at a time.

Re: Buying wine bottles in bulk...
I did full wine bottles as my wedding favor. I bought one of my favorite wines from my local liquor store and got 10% off per bottle. I live in Queens so it was not worth it to travel all the way out to the vineyards to buy anything. My savings was roughly $100 on 20 cases.

I do this every summer. I stock up for the year. You can taste and get some really good deals on what you like.
For your wedding, they could probably give you a really good deal because you're buying in bulk.

I buy a lot of wine at The Wine Guy in Smithtown. I have not seen prices lower. For example, they have Pindar Winter White for $4.52 per bottle (my local liquor store sells it for $8.99). I don't know if they give you more of a discount for buying cases. Definitely worth a look. They have a HUGE store.

Re: Buying wine bottles in bulk...
I did it for my wedding but I got mine through a friend who works for a liquor distributor.
I also priced them through the local liquor stores. Most places will give you a discount when you tell them how much you are buying. I got prices anywhere from 10%-15%off the bottle price.
I priced the local vineyardsd also but their per bottle price is much higher than many store bottles so they ended up beign too pricey.
