c-section moms who had staples....
Did it hurt to have them taken out? I'm freaking out because I had dissolvable stitches when I had Ava, and this time they stapled me, and I'm freaked out. I have to have them taken out tomorrow afternoon and I want to prepare myself for what's going to happen. Also, and this is a little TMI, but my incision is oozing a little in one spot. Nothing crazy, but I've been keeping a pad over the incision and when I take it off, you can definitely see that it's oozing. Since I had stitches last time, I don't know if this is something that's common with staples or not. Ugg. I hate dealing with this, I want it to heal already!!!

The staple removal does not hurt AT ALL! I was all freaked too, but it's barely a pinch...I wouldn't even call it a pinch really. Don't stress it!

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
Not at all. It was like a tiny little pinch. They have special scissors to take them out.

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
No it did not hurt to have the staples out for me. I guess since that area was still numb. My incision oozed also in on area. I just tried to keep it clean. Also my doctor put these sticker type things on after the staples were removed. I forgot what they are called?? Good Luck!!

Nope... Doesn't Hurt AT ALL. Really felt nothing and it takes a minute to get out. Didn't even know he started taking them out till I heard them go into the bowl or whereever they put the staples.
It's HONESTLY NOTHING.
BTW... you'll feel better when they're out. You don't have that "pulling" feeling anymore.

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
Not at all!
Remember, the staples they put into our bodies are shaped like this: [
They aren't like the ones from a paper stapler where they are folded on the other side.. KWIM? I know most people know that, but I also know that a lot of people imagine that they are like that! They slide right out with no more than maybe a pinch in certain places.
As far as oozing, mine did that a little too. I actually ended up having inflammation and fluid under my incision... but it was very very swollen so that probably isn't the case with you.

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
Thank you girls for settling my nerves! As for the oozing, it happened with Ava, but that was because my stitches opened up, this is different, I'm getting the feeling it's more normal this time than last. I guess I'll see tomorrow. I will say, the staples have been MUCH more comfortable to have in than the stitches. They pull, but not nearly as much. Ok, so now I can relax

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
I had the same thing, stitches first time, staples this time. I also had oozing I could see on the pad. the staples being taken out were NOTHING! I only felt one and it was really no big deal. I have my incision check next week so hopefully things will be ok.
staples are def. harder to look at tho
why did they do staples this time for you? for me, I had a bad keloid so docs figured they should try the staples and see if my scar is better .

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
No pain here either!
They put steri strips on after they removed the staples, they stayed on about a week. I made sure plenty of soap/water got on the incision when I showered.

it doesn't hurt at all and it's really quick. The most you feel is a pinch, nothing crazy

They said they usually do staples for a second c-section because the skin takes to them better. I barely had a scar the last time, but she said that I didn't heal as nicely under the surface as they would have liked for repeat stitches. So, staples it is. Plus she said it's faster and the research they've done show no difference in healing from one to the other. Who knows?

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
I had staples the 1st time and stitches the 2nd time. They removed mine before I left the hospital. Honestly, it pinched a tiny bit but it didn't hurt at all!

Re: c-section moms who had staples....
They took my staples out before I left the hospital both times. It was a little pinch but nothing compared to the IV, Epidural, and every other thing they stuck me with while I was there.

I had staples for the first one. They were removed before i left the hospital. Did not hurt at all - less than pulling off a band-aid.
For my second I was glued. (derma-bond)

oh this makes sense because I had terrible internal scarring, my surgery was 2 solid hours because of it! I hope the staples are better for the scars bc I didn't heal well at all last time
