C-section procedure question...(might be a dumb question)
I saw my gyno the other day and I brought up my belly and how loose all the skin is and he mentioned that he never cut through any abdominal muscle during the c-section but it mde me wonder...maybe I'm dumb but I thought they had to cut through everything to get to the uterus...tissue, fat and muscle? He said he had to move my bladder and "tack" it back into place after they got DD out so how can they avoid cutting through abdominal muscles??

they move your BLADDER? I always tried to learn as little as possible about c-sections....because I had one and I am squeamish.
I never heard that they cut thru muscles, though........I thought they just make the slice, cut the uterus open, and pull baby out...I don't think they cut through muscles.
I will be in the bathroom, puking now.

ITA. Ignorance is bliss on this one, esp since I'll wind up having a second c-section!

this is why I'm trying to avoid a second one.. Dh said he saw my organs last time, but then I thought he was kidding. He swore he saw them take something out and put it on a table and then put it back in. I have no idea what that was or if he saw wrong, but I can't think of it too much or I will get queasy.

Re: C-section procedure question...(might be a dumb question)
I had an emergency c-section. Baby crashed, I crashed, I was pouring out blood... it was bad.
At my 6 week checkup, I said something to the doctor about "Why do I feel so bad... other people are running around 6 weeks after csections and I can barely move."
The doc told me that for ME, they just kind of ripped throuhg everything to get the baby out... in her words, "we didn't take the care with you we normally would because of the emergency situation, which is why you are feeling badly and have a very large scar."
So, this not cutting muscles thing is news to me, because I always thought they did... I'm now assuming they cut my muscles, and that's going to be my excuse from now on about why I can't do sit ups!!!

My DH said the same thing too.. the Dr. actually said "Dad, here's mom's uterus if you want to see it"

Re: C-section procedure question...(might be a dumb question)
.................i love you ladies, but...
I'm gonna just keep this current baby inside of me. No need for him to come out. I always wished we could poop babies out. I know that sounds weird. But if I had to pick between pooping a baby out, or it coming out of my vajayjay or being cut out of my uterus, I'm all for the butt.
Then again, I'm pretty... anal.. when it comes to delivering on my own terms...

Re: C-section procedure question...(might be a dumb question)
Ugh.... getting light-headed at work thinking about it. I figured the less I know the better. I even hated the feeling of the staples
I was also out b/c I had a crash c. OB had to get the baby out ASAP. Last thing I remember was being on the table and looking up at the light. I saw my belly in the mirror around the light. They were putting some iodine looking thing on my belly and next thing you know they woke me up and said "Congrats...." A lot of pain. the less the better. Doc did a great job though. Little scar and low.

Re: C-section procedure question...(might be a dumb question)
technically they don't cut through the abdominal muscles.......................you don't want me to tell you how they do get through them though...............but it would be a miraculous delivery if they didn't have to do something! i saw one when i was in nursing school years ago. you can youtube it if you want to see it, it's not for the faint of heart though!
ETA: your doc should of explained it a little better, instead of leaving you to believe like it's your fault that your belly is different lol! doctors are dopes sometimes!

Re: C-section procedure question...(might be a dumb question)
the old way (vertical incision), they cut through the muscle. the new way (horizonal/bikini line) they don't technically cut the muscle, they seperate it.
