C-section recovery question
I asked my doctor if I can exercise at my last appointment and he said no. He said I can go for short walks with the baby, that's it.
How long before you can exercise? Also - what types of exercise can you do once you do start to get the okay? I'm assuming nothing affecting abdominal muscles for a while. What about yoga and stretching? My lower back is killing me - probably from overcompensating for my sliced in half lower abdonminal muscles DH rubbing my back doesn't even offer me relief anymore. Are there any restrictions on getting a massage?
I'm starting to feel better for the most part... when I overdo it - I feel it that evening. I had my section 4 weeks ago as of this coming Sunday. Doctor said it could take months to be 100% and that's what I'm hearing from others who had sections.

Re: C-section recovery question
i also had a c section but only 3 weeks ago. I dont think you can start working out until at least 6 weeks after. I know that's what it is for a vaginal delivery. i feel pretty good too, but definitely can tell when i've over done it. I dont know about massage. i would think you should wait a little while because laying on your stomach for so long will put a lot of pressure on the incision site.

Re: C-section recovery question
At my 6 week PP visit my Dr. said I could resume all physical activity, but not expect to be at the levels I was prior and to "take it slow" I was able to go on the elliptical and do some crunches that same week and felt a lot better than I anticipated!

Re: C-section recovery question
I saw my dr today, and he doesnt want to even talk about exercise until the next time I see him, which will be 7 weeks pp. He also told me that I may not be completely back to normal until 12 weeks. Why not give your dr a call to ask about a massage. I didnt even think of that, my back has been so sore.

Re: C-section recovery question
I started walking 2 miles a day at 2 weeks at just under 6 weeks I started running again - I went to my appt a week later and told my MW that and she said it was fine. But you have to know your own body - I would never have done it after my first c/s

Re: C-section recovery question
I took long walks in the beginning - my OB said 2-3 months before doing anything strenuous and I had a pretty quick recovery. You don't want to overdo it and open your stitches and set yourself back.

Re: C-section recovery question
at 6 weeks I started jogging, but I was so engorged all the time that it hurt too much. I had been a walker since day 1
