cable/internet/phone plans and bills. please post yours

So our cablevision bill is $210 a month and i'm so over it (includes HBO, dvr in 1 room and 2 other boxes)!!!! We barely watch tv. Just a few taped shows and some kids shows here or there. The big thing is my husband is a huge football fan.

Can you please post your providers, what you get for the plan/package and how much it is?

Also those that stream, do apple tv, roku or whatever else there is... can you explain it to me? I've watched some shows on my computer a few times for when my dvr didn't tape them.

What's your story and how do you save?

Before the November bill comes out, we get a letter notifying us that starting with our next bill, our pricing goes up b/c our promotions end. When we get the letter, DH calls and we always end up paying just a little bit more, not a lot like the letter states. Like we were paying around $131, letter stated our bill would be going up to around $180 for the same features, DH called and now we pay $134. I have no idea what he says though lol. We cannot get FIOS since it's not available in our area so I'm surprised that he's able to negotiate so well with them.

54$ for internet time Warner
$4 phone for Ooma
$8 Netflix

We dropped cable almost 2 years ago. Now that money goes into D's account and our holiday fund.

We pay $120/month for FIOS phone, internet, and cable with HBO and Showtime. This price also includes 1 hd DVR box and a free non-hd box. This is the promotion ally price and the hd DVR is only free for a year after which it is $20/month. We won't be keeping it when the promo runs out since we have TiVo in the living room.

I also get $10 off per month through my job.

FIOS Triple Play. $95/month plan, with HBO, Showtime, The Movie Channel and Flix included in the extreme TV plan. We pay for one HD multi-room DVR, and one additional set top box (soon to add another set top box). I think it comes to about $130 after all equipment rental costs and taxes (our bill is combined in one bill with our cell phones, so we save $10/month for one-bill, so I am not sure of the exact cost, but that's a pretty good estimate).

I just looked up Ooma. Did you have to buy their box?

Yes. Out of pocket initally, we bought the ooma box and the roku box. I'll be honest, sometimes I have to call my mom back because I hear an echo but for some reason, any phone issues I have are with her calls.

Up until last week we were paying $112 total for optimum phone, internet, and broadcast basic (basically 13 channels and the music channels). Ridiculous!

I called last week bc we decided to just cancel the phone and cable altogether. They finally offered us a break and offered us family cable and our bill should be about the same. After a week of still not finding anything good to watch we're planning to call again to cancel. So that should take us to $60 for internet.

We pay $8 for netflix and have my sister's hulu login, share amazon prime, and my parents' HBO Go. We watch though a roku and our blue ray player and will probably get an antennae.

Optimum - $105/month for internet w/ boost, cable card for our TIVO box, phone, and family cable package (no premium channels)

We have a Roku so we also pay $8/month for Netflix streaming and we use my parents log in info to access HBO GO and Hulu. We pay $5/month for MOG which is a music channel.

ETA - We bought the top end Roku 3 for $90 at the time we got it.

Same here! I also subscribe to Amazon Prime which comes out to about $8 a month (I think it's an annual $100 fee or something around that.) and Hulu+ (about another $8 a month). I really don't miss cable at all. Sports we watch on our laptop or go out to a friend's house or a bar for a big game. We were paying about $250 a month for cable/internet alone and now we pay less than a $100. I also believe that some sports channels/packages/apps (whatever you want to call them) will soon be coming to things like Roku or AppleTV.

For the Roku, it's a small box that you set up through your wi-fi network. It walks you through the set up which took less than 5 minutes and it was SO simple. From there you log into your accounts- hulu, netflix, amazon, etc. Roku also has some free channels or movies that you can pay per movie- Crackle, RedBox, etc. We use the Roku in our bedroom and stream through DH's Playstation 4 in our living room.
