Cablevision PACKAGE ( tv, phone, PC)
Does anyone have the Package ?
I got something in the mail that said for $99 a month, I would get IO TV service with HBO, OPtimum online and phoen service.
Now my cable and computer alone is like $125 a month so I was wondering if anyoen had this and thats REALY the price.

we had the package and recently just canceled. supposdly there was a huge problem with calling 911 thru the cable service, they were unable to trace alot of the calls and such. and being a mother of 2 small kids, i dont want to have to worry about getting thru to 911 incase of an emergency. also we found it too expensive. right now we use verizon dsl and love it.

It's called the tripple play - and its $99. But Im not sure if thats only for a limited time - I think for the first year. You can check out their deals on their website. they have a double play package too.

Since you already have cablevision and optimum you cant get it.....it is only for new customers
we got the double play because we already had cable but not optimum or the phone
it works fine for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting that installed decemeber 3, i will keep u posted how it goes... i think the digital phone was ok for me cause they warn you.. if there is a blackout or the lines r down u wont b able to call 911..i assume if the world is collapsing and my phone is down---911 will already kno about it

I mentioned this in another post but other posters didn't think this was an issue. Personally, I feel much better knowing that if someone broke into my home and I was able to dial 911, help would be sent -- even if they grabbed the phone out of my hand. Or if there is a fire and you have to run....or whatever. I say whatever you do, keep a land line phone.

well we dont have a land line phone now anyway. We have not had one in about 2 years. We only have our cell phones.
The thingy I got in the mail says it does apply to new and current customers thats why I asked. Seemed weird my bill would be lowered SO much and I would be getting so much more.
Gonna have to call them at lunch and ask.

We've had it for over a year. It was $99 for the first year for the io gold, phone and internet, after a year it goes up $25 I think, and then it goes up againa fter 2 years when the promotion ends. We've had no problems with it so far at all. love the phone. unlimited calling, free 411!

That is NOT true!
Vonage had a problem with 911. You needed to call to "activate" 911. And if you didnt then when you dialed 911 it didnt goto your local 911.
If you move and take you modem with you and dont contact cablevision to change it all around then 911 will goto your old address.

I have the triple play. No issues so far. I think it is only good for one year. Sometimes my opt voice phone acts up (static, numbers dont go through) but I dont know if that is the cordless phone I have or the service.

I called, after 15 minutes of the girl having NO idea if it was for new or existing customers and at what point saying..WHAT package again and I never heard of that, I hung up and gave up! Now I remember why I hate Cablevision!

nope it says right on the thingy I got. OFfer applies to new and current subscribers. Just cause your husband works there doesnt mean I hate him.... LOL
Does he work in Sales? Cause this chick I talked to could use some extra help...

It is possible they are trying to push the package to select EXISTING customers that don't have the phone service through Cablevision.
I know the triple play deal was for new customers only... but maybe they are slowly starting to change their ways now that competition is coming in the area.
I have to say one thing though.... Cablevision's Optimum internet service SMOKES anything else thats available. I have used it at my MIL's place... and its WAY faster than DSL. Its also faster than Time Warner's Roadrunner in Queens... as well as RCN in Queens.
I am looking forward to getting Optimum cause my RCN cable is starting to get crappy.

I have the triple play and the bill comes every month and is $97 and change. It is $29.99 plus tax each for all 3 of the services. We love it.

Well then you should goto the cablevision store and show them cause that is wrong. its only good for new subscribers. And if you got something that says it good for both then you should bring it to their attention and demand you get it.
Yes he is in sales.

I was going to say... that since your hubby works in Sales... he probably won't be aware of offers that go out to current customers.
There are two things to note here. dm24 said the ad she got was $99 a month for all three services. This may NOT be the Triple Play promotion... because the triple play promotion is $89.85 a month for all three ($29.95 x 3).
I don't see why its such a big deal if she got this mailer or not. Companies all the time send out offers to SELECT existing customers.
Cablevision wants to get her on the hook for the phone... cause more than likely once you have their phone service... you usually don't want to change providers due to keeping the phone number.

Anyways... from what I have heard... sales and the sales promotions are completely different entities from what customer service and retention have to offer the current customers.
Most likely the CSRs won't know too much about what new customers in sales can get. And just like the sales people won't know what offers the current customers can get... or the people that call to cancel and want better deals.
But if the ad says "for current customers"... then its for current customers and thats handled through customer service... not sales.
