Cablevision Triple Play - Phone # UPDATE
Has anyone moved that had triple play? If so, did they let you keep your old phone number?
Just curious because we set up our appointment last night to move our service and they told us we needed to get a new one for 911 purposes. We're just moving about 1.5 miles away in the same town! He said if we'd call 911, they would respond to the old address.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this!
Thanks!
UPDATE
I just spoke with my co-worker and she was telling me that after you move, they will come by and change your number back but, for a couple of days, you are assigned a new number.

Re: Cablevision Triple Play - Phone # Question
Did you have a landline or the cablevision phone at your old address?
I am interested in what people respond to this as we have the triple play now and are moving soon after we close and we are wondering if we can keep our number - as well - we are only moving about 2 miles away too.

This will likely be the case with us (moving only a mile or two away) and I was wondering about this the other day too.

Yep! My dad did it just the other day. It was a 40 dollar fee I believe, but he kept the number he has had for 30+ years!

We had Cablevision phone at our old address, we're keeping the same service we had but, just moving it down the street.
They said you can move landline phones but, they can't update the 911 routing address on the Optimum Voice phones.
It just seems a little weird to me and the person I spoke with seemed confused so I wanted to see if there was a way around it!

Re: Cablevision Triple Play - Phone # UPDATE
I moved in February and we got to keep our old number throughout.
The number is in your modem box you place next to your phone and computer - as long as you bring that to your new home, you're fine.
I went one day without phone/internet, but they came at the end of that day to set everything up and we never were given another phone line as a temporary.

It depends where you are moving to, if you give cablevision your new address they can tell you if you'll be able to keep your number or not. We were not able to keep our number when we moved. We ended up switching to Verizon.
