I'm a poster...
But WRT to 3000+ active user number that you refer to on the bottom of the screeen... Didn't Ron explain once that there aren't really that many people on at the that time, that that number accounts for anytime LIW/LIF comes up in a search or something like that. Can't remember his exact explanation, but there really aren't that many people on at one time like the count says!
With that said, I am sure there are MANY lurkers!!!

Active poster here (slowly approaching 1,000 posts - woo hoo!!!)
Question: If someone's a lurker, but not logged on, can they still participate in polls? I know you can't post if you're not a member and logged on.
So I'm figuring there are a LOT more lurkers out there, we just don't know about them because they can't post b/c they aren't members.

I will admit that I used to lurk  but I recently joined so now I post! When I say I "lurked" it was more for me to see what the sight was about, get a feel for the message boards and then decide if I wanted to join! So, I wasn't lurking for that long

That number at the bottom can be misleading. I think I remember Ron telling us once that when the search engines crawl the web their hits to the site get counted in that total.
Also, I'm sure there are people who browse the site just reading articles and such (yeah, there's other stuff on here besides forums! ) and never even visit the forums. They count too.
