Can I cry over dumped milk for a second?
I learned a VERY valuable lesson today. Doesn't matter what any of your doctors say--if you have a question regarding medications and your milk, CALL A LACTATION CONSULTANT.
I just finished a 10-day course of antibiotics that 2 different Drs. told me was not compatible with BF. I cried and cried over this...and then begrudgingly started my DD on formula.
I called my LC today to find out when it would be safe to begin BF again, and she said to me...
"I wish you would have called me sooner...there was no need for you to pump and dump at ALL" 
I poured over 400 oz. of milk down the drain during this past week and a half. WHY do doctors not have accurate information??!!!!! I'm so angry about this!!!!!

Doctors always err on the side of caution. Hale's book is the reference most LC's use and IMO his information is the most accurate. I was told I had to pump and dump 48 hours after an MRI with dye. Completely inaccurate. I made calls before I dumped a drop.

OH, and I wish you all could have seen DD's face when I attempted to nurse her before. I offered her the breast, and she latched on no problem, but then her eyes looked at me and I swear she was like, "What the ****??!!" 
She's had nothing but bottles for 10 days, I guess she doesn't like the fact that she has to work for her milk again...

I could not sleep one night, when I woke up to pump and went to pour it in the storage bag to freeze it, and I spilled it all over my stove. SO I hear what you're saying I would be livid too!!!!

Yeah...DH left my frozen milk out by accident.
So not only did I lose about 50 oz. that time, I dumped about 400 oz. these past 10 days, aaaaaand used up my entire frozen stash while I "couldn't BF", about 80 oz.
When am I gonna learn to just call the LC??!!

I know!!! That's a good thing!  But man, I can tell that DD is NOT happy with me...I think she had it really easy for the last 10 days
