Can I keep my car plates if Im thinking about getting another car?
I currently have a car thats insured but died out on me. I plan on junking it but I dont want to surrender the plates yet because I plan to get another car in the next month or so. Is it possible to keep the plates or do they have to be surrendered as soon as you stop the insurance on the car? Sorry if this is a stupid question I just would hate to surrender them then have to pay $135 or so to get new plates in a month vs. just paying $75 to transfer the plates.

You can't cancel insurance without turning in the plates first.....BUT....You don't want to have insurance on a car that isnt in your possession....
