Large SUV owners - are you thinking about getting a different car?
I see a lot of Yukons, Tahoe's, Sequoias, Expeditions, Hummers, etc on the roads and often wonder - with the price of gas climbing every day (and the possibility of it being $4 or even $5 a gallon by summer), are you thinking about getting something else?
just curious

Re: Large SUV owners - are you thinking about getting a different car?
I have an Envoy, so it's not super large, but it is an SUV nonetheless. At this point, no, because I have a lease on it and I need the room with my 2 kids. I have visions of something the same size or larger, but will more than likely go the crossover or hybrid (Yukon) route when the time comes.
For now, I don't go crazy with driving if I don't have to. Good thing for online shopping

on the drive home from work today, a Yukon cut me off, was speeding and weaving in and out of lanes. basically driving very aggressively! I thought to myself...
hey! I know life s*cks for you at the pumps, but no need to take it out on everyone else!

Re: Large SUV owners - are you thinking about getting a different car?
my is large- but not that large
I have a 25 gallon tank- so it's about $80 to fill up
and I get about 22 mpg
when my lease is up- I plan on getting a smaller SUV- but not b/c of the price of gas- b/c I want to buy it instead of lease, and I really couldn't afford to buy my current SUV

Re: Large SUV owners - are you thinking about getting a different car?
We have an Excursion, which we're not about to give up. It's my primary vehicle, but I don't do much driving these days. The truck's functions and positives outweigh the negative, which is primarily gas consumption.
DH's primary vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee, but the gas mileage was so bad that he decided to buy a Prius. (DH commutes from Huntington to Morris Plains, NJ a few times a week.) The car is pretty cool. DH is really happy with the purchase. It holds just as much cargo as the Jeep and has all the bells & whistles too.
We still have a year left on the lease with the Jeep, but once that lease is up, we'll probably buy a larger SUV, like the Yukon Hybrid or a Sequoia.

Nope. We're actually in the market for another one.
Ideally, I'd like to get an Excursion but Ford discontinued them so the only route we'd be able to go is used. If we did go that route we'd get a deisel.

Re: Large SUV owners - are you thinking about getting a different car?
I have an 04 Envoy (not that big of an SUV) but still an SUV. I have 12 payments left on mine & we own it outright. I have 22 gallon tank & do get pretty good gas mileage (highway). I make it a point to only fill up once a week & put $20 (don't let the tank go below 1/2) unless we are doing a big trip.
The positives of my truck outweigh the negative & honestly when the time comes, we will be looking to get a bigger truck. The gas prices (even though annoying) are not going to stop me from driving what I love. I honestly do believe that the gas prices WILL eventually go down. Someone needs to step in & do some regulating (but that is another story)

I love my SUV. Love the fact that I can pack up a household if need be, great for family camping tricks...and love the 4WD option that I need often times due to weather.

We have an Expedition (which I was against but my DH got his way ). I admit, it's really nice but my GOD we pay $$$$$$$ in gas. We talked about trading it in but we would still owe on it..
