can i make chocolate ganache in the microwave?

it says to do in a double boiler but i was thinking of just putting the chocolate, cream and instant coffee in the microwave. Will it come out the same?

No, don't do it. Honestly, the double boiler is super easy! I used to be afraid of it, too, but now it's like old hat.

Some tips.... make sure the water is JUST touching the bowl and make sure your water simmers but doesn't boil. Good luck! Chat Icon

ETA: Hmmm instant coffee? Interesting- I've never seen that in a chocolate ganache recipe- usually I just use heavy whipping cream and chocolate.

i have made chocolate ganache twice so I am no expert. I have no idea how it works with instant coffee, but when i make it i use heavy cream and chocolate chips. All i have to do is boil the heavy cream in a pot (is should just be boinling) then poor it over the choocalte in a bowl use a wisk and stir. this is how we did in the cupcake class i took and this is how i did it a home and it came out fine.

It will be fine in the microwave. I would melt the chocolate slightly, then add hot cream and coffee to the chocolate and stir until fully melted.

the recipe i have said to warm up the cream just until little bubbles and add to che chocolate chips. whisk until the chocolate melts. And wait about 30 min. It thickens up as it cools. super easy.

I think it tastes better when you use a double boiler, but I have done it in the microwave when I was feeling lazy and it came out fine.

When I make ganache, I heat the cream first until it's simmering, then stir in the chocolate. I don't think it would be any different if you heated the milk in the microwave on the stove. I wouldn't expose choc to direct heat though.
