Can I share pics of my kitchen facelift too?

I have wanted to change the color of my cabinets since I moved into my house 4 years ago.

We want to eventually (5 years ish) completely redo the kitchen. This will include moving walls, doors windows so we have to wait $$ wise. I decided to do this to buy myself some time.

So with the help of Hoftra26 who generously shared alot of info with me I decided to restain the cabinets myself.

DH did all the sanding and I did all the staining.
The entire project cost about $225 and took about a month. I worked almost everyday for approximately 1-2 hours on average. I didn't have alot of space to work so I had to everything in sections.

I want to change the wall color and we still need a new dishwasher and I am debating on if it is worth doing the backsplash too to really change the whole look.

To the left there in another set of cabinets and counter and the fridge.

Before: External Image

After: External Image

Update: So we only painted. Decided on waiting to do kitchen over for new backsplash but here is an updated picture. It looks soooo different. External Image

That looks great! I would definitely repaint before redoing the backsplash. I think a new wall color will make a big difference.

ETS : I would also consider crown molding to the top of the cabinets. Would really give it a finished look.
But really....they came out great !

it's actually not difficult at all! Just time consuming in the sense that it was a lot of coats and a lot of drying time.
If I had more space to work and longer chunks of time I could have had it done in 2 weeks or so but I had to work in a small area and around my kids naps and bedtimes.
Fm me anytime !

That looks great! I did it once so I know how time consuming it is! Looks really good, love the depth of the color you chose.

Can I share pics of my kitchen facelift too?

Looks awesome. I'd def do a rich earthy gray paint, and possibly replace the appliances to stainless. Maybe add crown too. Great job.

It's not hard, just VERY time consuming. It was extra work for us when we refinished our cabinets because we had to strip them of layers of paint first, then sand and stain. It was SO worth it though, it really transforms the kitchen and costs very little other than time and effort.

I would do somtething very neutral. Maybe even white if you're going to keep the backsplash, because that's what they look in the photos.

would love to change to stainless! Money is just super tight right now and I feel like it make be wasteful to get new appliances if in a few years we will redo kitchen and appliance sizes may not match.

Thanks for the reco on the grey! Think that will be perfect!

Going to look into crown too. My dad can do that

Great job! I give you a TON of credit.

If it was me and the goal was to remodel the kitchen in 5 years I would not spend the money now on a back splash or appliances. I know you mentioned you needed a new dishwasher, so yes it if broken then I would get an inexpensive one for now.

A fresh coat of paint and it will be a like a completely different kitchen.

Yes we decided for certain we are not going to do the backsplash....Although it wouldn't be too expensive right now I would rather just wait. We really don't have extra money right now.
