Can I Vent for a Moment?

I am just DONE with all the family being here! Jordan is 11 days oldChat Icon Bris was on Thursday, family all started coming in last Wednesday. His parents are still here, my sister is still here. My mom and brother who live here come and hang out all hours too. No one is staying with us but they are here during the day into the night and it's just too much already. I love my sis to death and I'm already crying at the thought of her leaving but just having someone around is stressful. His parents, do not get me started - completely no help and esp with his dad - absolutely ZERO consideration and thought to the fact that there is a newborn and a mommy recovering from surgery. Blasting movies on tv, slamming cabinets, teasing dog so she goes crazy. They called yesterday before they came over to see if we had eaten - we hadn't and DH told them that - yes, plenty of food in house but then they told us afterwards they went to Ben's Deli - no phone call, no "can we bring you anything?" - wow, I would have liked some soup.
We have "hosted" dinner pretty much every night. Yesterday was nuts - I slept almost entire time people were over and then hid in my room with Jordan - felt like a prisoner in my own home. My sis is leaving tonight and his parents early tmrw morning so it is ending, but it's just been really tough - esp when his parents act like they are on vacation (we're in FL) and like I said, barely any consideration for what's really going on!

Thanks for letting me get that out!

Re: Can I Vent for a Moment?

I can understand Chat Icon My MIL flew in from Israel to stay with us when Yael was born. I thought we'd need a LOT of help with Alex but my recovery went much smoother than I expected, and instead of being a help during the month she stayed, it really was a nuisance, as much as I love her. Those first few weeks are so precious, and what you really need is time to bond with your baby and some quiet to rest and start figuring out your routine.

Hang in there and vent away! Chat Icon

Re: Can I Vent for a Moment?

Chat Icon with #1 I had a housefull.

First baby on my side, so my family came down and stayed...for a long time.

DH's dad, brother, wife, 2 kids came the first week. Horrible. Locked me and baby in room.

Then the baptism...another house full....

this time around I have told people to stay away. Nursing was so hard on me last time. I need to be topless a lot...I don't want to do that in front of fathers, brothers, cousins..

Baptism...i want it so low key this time.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Aww sweetie! I cannot believe FIL is making Puppy Dog bark-I would have to kill him! You will have some calm soon! I cannot believe how inconsiderable your ILs have been-sounds like a certain other person's ILs! Chat Icon

I wanted to tell you that I am starting to see what you are talking about with visitors who all think that this is a vacation. I think I told you that my bro (I love him to death, but still) wants to know what activities we can do-I said, "Um, you can do what you want-I will have a NB!

OMG-I have to call you on this subject and tell you about a certain grandmother CC Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm so sorry I completely understand I had a similiar scenario,,,and to top it off DH just didn't understand. I sympathize w/you in the "locked up in your own room" the same happened with me, plus I had BFing issues & I was crying most of the time. Its awful how ppl you love so much can seem so inconsiderate / not understanding. All this shall be a distant memory soon!

Re: Can I Vent for a Moment?

Sorry this time was stressful for you. I kind of knew I was going to want to everyone to give us some space that first week and the fam was pretty good about giving it to us. BIG difference is that we are all local to each other. It's so hard when people come in from out of town. Hopefully you'll get the peace and quiet you all deserve after they all leaveChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Can I Vent for a Moment?

Thanks so much everyone. I'm going to be honest, we were team green, and when they said "boy" I was upset because my first thought, was - omg - bris in 8 days, everyone comes right away!

I am also having BF issues, so it makes it worse!!

Thanks for listening, ladies!Chat Icon
