Can I wear white to a bridal shower?
My friends bridal shower is on Sat (Im the Maid of Honor)... I have a white eyelet dress that I would like to wear.. mostly bc its the only nice summer dress I currently own that fits me =) and I would rather not have to buy another dress BUT is it appropriate to wear white to a shower when you are a guest?

Can I wear white to a bridal shower?
Ask the bride!
DH's cousin's fiance's shower was this weekend and both she and a bridesmaid wore white but she's one that wouldn't care.

ETS: I just wanted to add. "I" wouldn't wear it to a shower or wedding. Because "I" associate white at these occasions with the bride. There are a thousand other colors I could wear to these parties and choose those over white.

sounds like she doesn't mind. I think you can go for it, sounds like she doesn't care & I bet you nobody will even think twice about the fact that it's white.

Re: Can I wear white to a bridal shower?
Youi can wear whatever you want to the Bridal Shower -
The Bride wears white to the WEDDING -
If SHE chooses to wear white for every other wedding related occassion prior to the big day, that's great, but that doesn't mean the color is off limits for every one else as well !!
ETA - I'm not saying your friend is like this........but I'm b/c I've seen WAY too many brides the last few years adapt this new 'wear white for very occassion' trend and I think it's fine, but then they fiip out if someone else is wearing white - Sorry - Bride gets white for the Wedding Day - everything else is fair game - No one cares what 'the bride' is wearing for the other events ....

Re: Can I wear white to a bridal shower?
OMG I can't. Are brides really like this? Like they CARE what color others wear to their shower? Maybe I should turn in my woman card because I just can't bring myself to ever imagine a time where I would concern myself with something as trivial as that. I woudln't even give 2 shyts if someone wore white to my WEDDING! I mean, unless you walk in in a train and a veil- I am the bride. Nobody is going to mistake you for me because you have on a white dress. And as far as a shower- I think it's absurd to even have to consider it. Maybe I'm not normal though. Maybe I worry about things that are too important and need to focus on stressing over minor insignificant BS more.
OK I'm done. My rant wasn't directed at the OP for asking the question either. I just can't even imagine that we HAVE to ask such a question. That is what kills me!

Re: Can I wear white to a bridal shower?
I posted that i personally wouldn't, only b/c i wouldn't bother asking how the bride felt about it. i also couldn't imagine someone saying, "no i'm the bride, only i can wear white to my shower." how awkward would that be? that's why i would just pick another color to wear. some people are just particular like that... i'm also someone who wouldn't have cared if someone wore white to my wedding. just recognizing that there are some who would care.

I agree. I think she would have worn white if she really cared about that kind of thing.

I wouldn't. I feel white is for the bride. She may not be a bridezilla about it but she or even other guests) might side eye it and be like really? couldn't wear another color??

Exactly. Personally, I wore a white and black dress to my shower. So did my sister. I didn't care, but other people commented!
I didn't know ladies were at home clutching their white dresses crying out "WHEN CAN I WEAR YOU?!"

Can I wear white to a bridal shower?
It's diva behavior to me if a bride gets annoyed at a guest wearing white to any pre-wedding function.
Even the whole wedding nonsense of white rules.. My relative still ******* over a guest who wore an ivory dress to her wedding.
It's such a silly rule.
I'm like a pp. I wouldn't care as long as its not a wedding dress.
If I ever had a wedding again .. I saw pics of bridesmaids in white or ivory. It looked beautiful.
Everyone knows who the bride is
