Can one be too old for long hair?

Just wondering what the general consensus is. I just turned 34 so I hope I don't fall into this category yet, since my hair is pretty long (boob length) and I have no intentions of cutting it anytime soon. I love wearing it wavy, straight, big bun, ponytail .... But I'm starting to get paranoid that I'm getting too old. Chat Icon Please say it ain't so! Thoughts? At what point "should" a female opt for shorter hair - if there is a point?

I had your length hair. Just cut it in May. I turned 40 in March Chat Icon lol the only reason I cut it (a little longer than chin length)is cause it looked awful no style just hung like a mop. If my hair was nice it would still be long.

Re: Can one be too old for long hair?

I don't think there's a point where a person should have their hair a certain length that correlates with their age.

As long as it's maintained well, do what you want.

My hair has been every length over the years - almost down to my ass and I've been bald from chemo, so I had a buzz cut for awhile, and every length in between. So long as it was always maintained well, I never thought "I'm too old for this".

Can one be too old for long hair?

I cut my hair after my wedding. It had nothing to do with my age (I was almost 36), I just look better with shoulder length hair.

If you said you were 70 with hair down to your azz, maybe.
At 34 with hair to your boobs, I think you are still good!

Ummmm - I don't care.
I have long curly (really curly) blonde hair.
I'm going to my grave with it and if anyone has a problem they can suck it

At 37 I just cut my hair a little below my shoulders from butt length. There is no "age" in my opinion. I was just over long hair in the summer and my hair grows fast. Do what you like.

I've seen some older women (I'm talking 60s/70s) rocking the long hair and it surprised me, but I thought they looked great! One had grey hair and it was almost silver and pin straight and nicer than mine at 29. Chat Icon

Re: Can one be too old for long hair?

People also think there are age limits for bikinis and to be honest i have seen some (not many, but a few) women in their 50s and 60s who look GREAT in a bikini.
If you can rock it, age doesn't matter IMO.
For hair or bikinis!

Age is just a number. If you look good, it's timeless.

I sure hope not! I have no plans to cut my hair short. Right now it comes down to about my bra on my back. I might grow it a bit longer or go a bit shorter, but definitely not "short"

No!
I'm 48 and just cut a few inches off because it was dead. It's now right at the top of my boobs. But I plan to let it grow even longer as long as it stays healthy. A friend is 49 and has the most gorgeous long hair, people think it's fake. She has no plans on ever cutting it.

Re: Can one be too old for long hair?

I'm just shy of 49 and my hair reaches below mid back, under my bra strap.
I blow it straight, wear it wavy, with curls, pulled back, in a ponytail, braid, bun. Whatever I feel like.

I am no where near ready to cut into one of those old lady Carol Brady cuts and don't think I ever will, as long as my hair looks good.

Idk, my grandma always said older women with long hair look "witchy" Chat Icon but maybe she meant 80 year old women with hair down to their a$$. It just always stuck with me!

Young and old can have witchy hair if it's dyed terribly and split ends and knotted and tangly! For me and in my professional opinion hair can be any length a any age if it's healthy and suits you and your style!! Xoxox

I'm 37 with long hair. I love the flexibility long hair gives you. Plus, I teach dance and I need to have my hair pulled back. So I'll never go too short.

Look at the pics of Cyndi Crawford over on the celebrity board - not sure exactly how old she is, (but I'm pretty sure she is in her 50's). She has long hair and she looks AMAZING!

I think it's fine if he are lucky enough to have awesome hair as your get older. Often women's hair thins and doesn't look as nice, which is why I think many go shorter. If it's not looking sparse and stringy, go for it.
