Re: Can someone explain to me why formula "goes bad" after an hour

Honestly? I don't buy it. Any of it. I asked my Dr. and she said I could give him leftover formula up to 3 hours later, so long as the temperature of the room isn't above 80 degrees. I hardly ever dumped unused formula and DS was always fine.
Ditto to this!

I dont understand why RTF only lasts 48 hours either. If it's milk based and milk lasts longer than that, what goes bad in 48 hours ????
This I dont get at all! Iif I keep it cold in the fridge why does it "go bad" so quickly?

My rule was always 2 hours. I have never had an issue using this rule!
But I know I have given formula that is older than even my 2 hour rule with no side effects.
Ditto.

Can someone explain to me why formula
Hey guys I’m new here but I need urgent help. My baby is two months old and I was never aware of this 1 hour rule. So at night when we go to bed I make three bottles for her out of powder formula ready to go. So then through out the night I feed her the bottles that I leave on my nightstand for her. Now I’ve never had a problem with her getting sick. She does have some bad gas at time but the doctor says it’s the age. So I’m confused. I just need someone to tell me that I haven’t been harming her this entire time.

I did the same thing and my daughter is now a healthy 9 year old. I wouldn't worry

I would not pre-make them. I'd leave the bottles with water in it and then add the powder and shake when she's ready to feed. This way you are covering all your bases. You really shouldn't leave pre-made formula out at room temperature for a whole evening because of bacteria growth.

This is exactly what I used to do as well. I used something similar to this with the formula pre-measured. Powder Formula Dispenser
