can someone help me...gift for coworker

coworker just got engaged and I want to do something really nice, he is a sweet guy and very helpful. He wants to learn how to cook, so I was thinking it would be nice to give him a binder/book with some quick and basic recipes.

what are some recipes that I can put in the book?

OR

should I just buy him a beginner cookbook? which do you recommend?

i think a beginner cookbook too... bittman's how to cook everything is a good one because it has recipes at different levels and with different variations. if you want to make it a little more personal, maybe include a couple of your own personal favorite recipes

Re: can someone help me...gift for coworker

I've made personalized recipe books for my friends and coworkers when they got married. I went through my own recipes and chose ones I felt were easy and made them into a binder. I also wrote little notes on each one with different suggestions, substitutions, and ideas. They have always been a big hit, especially for the friends that don't know how to cook that well or want to learn.
