Need help sympathy gift for coworker
Our sectrarys mother passed away this week and she is devasted. I feel so awful for her and her family. My DH and I want to send a sympathy gift to the house from all of us at the office.
What is something I can send?
I don't know if I want to send flowers. Any other ideas?

where I'm from - when people die you send food. Usually it is in the form of a jello mold or tuna-noodle casserole.
However...how about a gc for a nearby take-out place so they can order in? Or even a peapod gc so she can get some essentials delivered without worrying about shopping.

a deli platter or bagel/muffin tray so they have something to eat for themselves or if someone drops by.
or you could make a donation in the mother's honor.

How about cookies or something people can grab and just eat. I know when my Dad passed a way. We all weren't really eating, but we would grab a cookie or some type of snack here and there. Someone sent my mom a basket of chocolate covered pretzels. We all would grab one and so did the kids.
