Can someone recommend a beginners running book?
I'm talking basics here. I'm trying to get into running but everytime I run I have such shin and groin pain the next day. I need to learn about form and gear but don't know where to start. TIA

Not sure if a book would help you here...you may need to speak to a running coach to see if you are doing something wrong because you shouldn't hurt in the same places every time you run if you stretch after. Are you stretching well?
Two ways to combat shin pain (unless you have spin splints which maybe the case): 1. Make sure you have new shoes! sneakers that lack support can create shin splints. 2. After your next run, spell the alphabet with your feet. This should relieve some of the pain.
You may also be doing too much too fast--I recommend looking into Hal Higdon plans or books--just google him.
Good luck!

There is a book titled "Run Your Butt Off!" that is a beginning runner book. It's quite good and it's written by the authors of the Runner's World magazine.
