Can we talk about imaginary friends? because DS is freaking me out!
I think my almost 3 year old has an imaginary friend. He started preschool last month and has occasionally mentioned his friend Brian. Well, there's no Brian in his class. We were looking through a photobook of all his classmates and he knew each of their names. When we got to the end he said, "but where's Brian?" So tell me, what's normal when it comes to imaginary friends?

When DD was about 3 she also had an imaginary friend, I found it cute and funny. It lasted about a year or so and little by little she faded away.

Do the voices in my head that tell me to do things also considered friends?
DS had imaginary "air ants"... they were sort of like imaginary friends, but they weren't people, they were ants... 
I took it as a sign of creativity, especially if they have real friends and aren't being ignored by kids their age, or if DC aren't overly introverted.

DD has imaginary "letter friends" - she hangs out with the letter "A" and "L" a lot
