can we talk about pregnancy and skin care? I have few questions maybe someone can give advice
does anyone know what anti aging and acne fighting products are safe?
I usually use a body wash with Salicylic acid. Use benzoyl peroxide face wash and retinol lotion on my eyes. Olay lotion on my face. These are all products my dermatologist recommended before I was pregnant. I know retinol is a no no when pregnant, so I stopped when we started TTC . I also read in one of the pregnancy books that that salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide products are not recommended when pregnant so I will stop using them.
But what can I use? I don't really have a bad acne issue, I get a pimple here and there, especially when I have my AF so I use the stuff listed above just for prevention. But now that I'm pregnant my face is starting to really break out .
Wondering if Glycolic acid/alpha hydroxy acid products are safe?

Lactic acid aha lotions are ok. No retin a or salicylics. Walgreens.com makes amazing aha washes and lotions. Forgot actual name google aha soufflee from the site. As far as a pimple don't know what to tell u. My skin is totally different now than before pg so hang in there

I use toothpaste on my pimples overnight.
The paste, not the gel.
It dries up my pimples rather quickly.

hope u don't mind me crashing... i'd suggest tea tree oil. it works great for a random pimple or two, and it's natural. you can get it at a place like the body shop.

Dickinsons witch hazel toner is also perfectly safe and it's done wonders for my skin (used while pregnant and started again recently).
You can also use Azelex, that's the only prescription med that's safe during pregnancy.

My skin never broke out so bad in my life during 1st tri - I mean like crusty crater bad! I ended up using belli's pregnancy lactic acid face wash and bought theclarisonc Mia from sephora which after a few weeks worked wonders. I then added Nordic naturals omega vitamin supplement with lemon oil from amazon.com to my diet and my skin and hair never looked better! Going into pregnancy I was one of those who had been using benzoyl peroxide and daly salycilic acid washes since high school.

You can also use Azelex, that's the only prescription med that's safe during pregnancy. I have Finacea which I think is the same thing ( azelex or azelaec) my dermatologist prescribed it when I was pregnant, before I had a mc. But I don't like using anything prescription strength unless I really have to.
