can we talk poop? a little TMI

DS is Breast fed and has started solids 2 months ago and within the last week he hasn't gone poop in 5 days, I tried sneaking in a small amount of prunes too. Dr said to give him a glycerin suppository. I was gonna give him one more night to try to go on his own and give it this morning... well needless to say last night he finally gave me a poop. not that much though that you would think for not going for 5 days.. He doesn't do hard ones yet just more thicker and mushy than when EBF. So its not like he's constipated and cranky, he is happy and no signs of being uncomfortable..

OK well after all that the question is would you still give the suppository?

I wouldn't, but I am definitely more overly cautious than others I think. We had the same problem with my son when he started solids (He is also EBF). Although, the longest he ever went without pooping was 2 and a half days. Before I put him to bed that night, I put some Vaseline on the rectal thermometer and gently put it in and then kind of rotated it around and put it GENTLY in and out a few times. That did the trick. I've only had to do that one other time. I think the fact that you said he does not seem uncomfortable or unhappy in any way and that he DID poop (even if it as only a little) is enough to not have to do the suppository.

DD has problems with constipation, and we've had to use suppositories MANY times, sometimes they still didn't do the trick

water usually does the trick with dd.
