Can we talk train tables?
Yes i know it's early, but we're going to get jacen a train table for his 2nd birthday. I'm hoping to catch a good sale between now and then, which is why i'm asking.
Any good reviews or raves about a certain one?
We're thinking the Step2 train table with the lid so it can be used for coloring, etc.

Re: Can we talk train tables?
We have the Imaginarium one
No complaints. TRU usually has it for $129ish
I don't know that I'd want a cover b/c either DS wouldn't play with it or it would just be something in the way.
BUT we have no storage either

We got this same one for Connor for this Xmas. Previously we had the same table/different train set for when Caiden was 2 yrs old. We used it up until this Xmas. Connor loves it. Highly recommend Imaginarium trains. So much less expensive. I always get this train table and some of his favorite Thomas trains.

Re: Can we talk train tables?
We have the Circo one from Target It's a little narrower than the Thomas & Imaginarium ones, but we don't have a lot of room. We have Thomas and Imaginarium (TRU) wooden tracks and buildings and they all work together fine. I like the little bins on the side to store the extra track and trains they aren't playing with. The board flips over to a plain side that he could use to color on if you wanted.
It was super easy to put together, I thought it would take forever but it was less than a half hour.

we have the imaginarium one and love it. my friend has the costco one and says it nice but doesnt make the noises like ours does. it makes the sounds of a whistle blowing and other noises associated with the train.

Re: Can we talk train tables?
We have the step 2 deluxe action train tale. It has the molded tracks as part of the table and a cover. Thomas trains work with it. I wouldn't get one with moveable tracks at this point - I like that my son can play with it by himself. I don't wan to be fixing tracks every 2 seconds. (we got it for xmas when he was 18 months)

Re: Can we talk train tables?
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the point of a train table? Can't you just set up train tracks on the floor?

Yes...
But I think the idea is to keep it contained to the table, plus we like that ours has storage attached to it, because we don't have much of that.
DS loves his, and he isn't really a "play on the floor" type of kid, he prefers to play on that and the coffee table (with his cars)

that's our feeling.
we had the trundle table from thomas and sold it. now i just keep all tracks in a basket, trains in another, stations in another.
he builds all over house now. table was just getting in his way.

Re: Can we talk train tables?
Well, we have the actual Thomas the Train Table and it has NO storage. Since it was all given to us I can't complain, but if I were to buy one I would DEFINITELY get one with storage.
Cuz right now I've got about 100 trains in a Thomas suitcase....every d@mn Thomas house in a giant plastic bin and all the tracks immagineable in the Thomas storage bench thing all underneath the table.
ETA - I would most definitely get a table Ali....I found that when we do set them up on the floor Bella is stepping and sitting ALL over the tracks Major PITA

See i feel like this one is probably huge. I want to keep it in our computer room and i think this one might be too big. Plus i really like ones with storage and ones with flat tops to color or something.

It's not that big...it has storage with the two big drawers.
Trust me, my house is TINY and its in the dining room and it doesn't take up too much space, I see if I can dig up/take apicture...
Does the Step 2 one have tracks you can move?

see you hit the nail right on the head! I really don't want a million pieces all over my house as i know they would be. Add in the dog who would probably chew on them and it wouldn't be a good combo.
So you really like the step2 one? Do you use the top for a regular table too?

No it doesn't. See i like that you can't move the tracks, but then again i'm not the kid so i don't know if he'd end up hating that or not.
