For those that have train tables...Please help with my question...
I am trying to decide b/w these two tables for DS for Christmas. My question is - is it worthwhile to spend the extra money and have the more cumbersome table and get the train table with the drawers underneath. Is there a need with these tables for storage underneath or does everything you buy stay on the table - just not sure if the tracks and trains and everything need a storage place or if they all just stay on the table...TIA!!!!!

IMO, I think the Thomas tables are very overpriced in general.
We have an Imaginariam table, with drawers and DS loves it. I have the set it comes with, as well as a Thomas set and he plays with both.

I have the BJs train table (from a few years ago) and it has 2 drawers underneath. IMO they are great. The table is in DS playroom and those drawers hold a lot of stuff so its great to have hte extra storage space to hide things away and such.
Ours is similar to this oneTrain table

Re: For those that have train tables...Please help with my question...
Thanks ladies - I agree about the Thomas being way overpriced. The problem is the local toy store has one on display and DS is IN LOVE with it. He tends to notice stupid little details so I am worried he will notice that it is not the same if I don't get the Thomas one and not like it. All he talks about is that he is getting that thomas train table.
But now I am wondering - can I use the thomas island of sodor play board and all the other thomas parts on any table? If so, that might do the trick.
So is the consensus the drawers are good to have?
TIA again!

Re: For those that have train tables...Please help with my question...
We have the second Thomas table without the drawers. We got it last XMAS for a huge discount and was the one reason we went with that one. What I did for storage was to buy plastic bins (I have blue and Yellow ones) from target and put all the extra supplies in there and push it right under it.
I do think that all the train tables can be used with the Thomas trains. HTH.

I had the thomas trundle with tons of storage underneath, but we still needed 2 baskets on the side for all the stuff.
Not sure which station pieces you are buying and I am sure every boy is different...but our faves are the fire station, the coal mine with the swinging door, and the train car wash.

All train table can be used with the wooden thomas. We have a kidcraft one now with the drawers and bought a new one for Andrew for this Christmas. This yr we bought him the Imaginarium Table Set. It comes with all very similar parts just like Thomas.
Drawers are important but the bins underneath like the PP said is a great idea!
He is a Thomas Freak. When I showed him the picture of the table he might be getting from Santa he was sooo excited. They have a roundhouse, crane, mountain, etc just like Thomas. And it come with all extra trains, lights, sounds, soo much and not expensive. I would save your money for the trains since they are so much rather then on the table.
I did a lot of research before getting him a new one (the one he got last yr was used). And the Imaginarium Classic Train Table with Roundhouse Wooden Train Set got excellent reviews. The Roundhouse alone for Thomas is $100 and that doesn't even include the turntable which is $30
Here is the table we bought:

They have a Thomas table for $199 at Toys R Us. I know there are cheaper tables but my son is Thomas-obsessed. It has one drawer for trains. The tracks I leave on the table.

I'd definitely try to get the storage b/c we never have enough storage. And once you get one of these tables you end up with tracks and engines galore!
