Can you "accidentally" get off someone's facebook friend list? ETA with link to relationship on bottom

I noticed I was off my SIL list all of a sudden. She would have no reason to remove me ( not that I know of
Chat Icon ) could it have been an accident?

In order to delete a friend you have to hit delete and confirm you want the person removed.

That's strange, I would ask her whats up

No. She'd need to confirm the delete.

I just scaled down my friend list recently.

Re: Can you "accidentally" get off someone's facebook friend list?

Yeah, dh thinks it was intentional too. She does have some weird psychological issues, as do 95% of people in my family. I could see her having some issue, come to think of it. She kept 2 other family members. I sent her a message saying I noticed we weren't on each others lists. If it was an accident, then we can add each other, and If she removed me, then I'm sure she had her reasons and I'm not offended. I'm really not. We aren't close. I just thought it odd. But most people are!!!!

Re: Can you "accidentally" get off someone's facebook friend list?

I am thinking of scaling mine down as well. I talk to alot of regular friends and alot of girls from LIF parenting on facebook. Its great that ya find the extra people but what to say after the first initial "Hi" and you have nothing in common, I just dont know.
I could see also doing what your SIL did myself. Reason being is that facebook is ALOT of fun BUT it is not private unless you make it SOOOO private that it is not fun at all. I hate when a family member writes what we are doing or where we went and then another family member knows my life and what I have done over the weekend etc...
Its just soooo not private. Maybe this is why she deleted youChat Icon
To me its not personal its kinda like all of our FMs being displayed tomm for the heck of it... I know you can do inbox writing but then it becomes the same as just using plain AOL.

I am just so grateful that facebook wasn't around when I was in high school because I could only imagine the fights it must cause. I think it would been the ruin of me back then.

I agree. And I see a lot of High School antics and BS on facebook amongst GROWN adults...so I can't imagine how bad it would be if I was still IN high school and actually gave a damn.
At least I'm old enough now to laugh at the drama and the people who act like they are still in high school even though they are in their 30's...

I am happy I made the first cut on your list! Chat Icon

Liza, my cousin went MIA off my list so I searched all of my other relatives and saw he is off their lists, too. It might be a fb glitch or maybe she left fb.

OMG ladies!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So, I sent her a message, and asked her what was up. There is a whole lot of history with my family and her, and she said she didn't want anyone in my family knowing what she is up to, to be under a microscope, use things against her, whatever, but she requested me again.

When I saw her page, she had this ongoing thing with other family members (little messages, etc - you know) and I responded no problem, I understood, but she kept them on her friend list, did i do somehting worng....

well, she responded like a PSYCHO on me, and said I have a combative tone. I'll even cut n paste my note - it SO was not, I was just curious.... And she just went off on me.

So now, here I am, with her as my "friend" again, and she sent me this awful note.

I'll be honest - I don't know how to remove her from my friend list.

What was not feeling like HS to me, now does. Why can't people be normal????

Thats EXACTLY what I wrote above and I agree with her (not about your combatitve tone) but it is SOOO not private. My friends should be able to converse with me without my mom knowing. You can control what you write but you cant control what others write on your wall so you CAN get busted from a family member reading your wall.

Re: Can you "accidentally" get off someone's facebook friend list?

OK, so the tables have turned - she turned into such a raving lunatic, and she has done and said horrible things to me in the past (like an idiot and a door mat, I'm always the one to forgive and forget.... but not anymore!!!) I decided to just block her -she is one of those toxic people I don't need....

That being said, if you are blocked and you try to contact the person by sending a message, what comes up? Are they told they are blocked?

this would be her - she did this in different ways throughout the years (it's a long story on how she's in my family - she's not really a SIL, she sort of became involved with the family - very convoluted) but I always felt sorry for her, and tried to support her. She has phases of becoming alomost pathologocal, and after dealing with my mom for so long, I run FAR away from this crap now.

Will she know she's blocked? I WANT her to know!!!!

I agree with this. Myspace used to get a bad rap for being too public. And Facebook was supposed to be the answer. Oh really?? Chat Icon
All I know is that on Myspace if I become friends with someone or comment on someone's photo or someome comments on mine- the whole world doesn't have to know about it. You can be private and that's it- nobody sees you unless you accept them and even then they don't see what you write on your friends pages- unless those pages are public.
So dumb. I hate Facebook for that reason

Re: Can you "accidentally" get off someone's facebook friend list? ETA with another Question on bottom

Honestly, I NEVER post anything on FB that I wouldn't mind the whole world seeing. Pictures of me, a few of my son, etc - I wasn't looking for this to be a huge expose on my life, just a place to catch up with people who live far away from me, and people on here who I like - that's IT.

If I don't want pictures of me pole dancing in my rainboots on some drunken night, I will not do it around people who would post that without asking. I lead a pretty boring life. My status updates are usually about how tired I am or what workout I am going to do tonight. SCANDAL! Chat Icon
