OK, so the tables have turned - she turned into such a raving lunatic, and she has done and said horrible things to me in the past (like an idiot and a door mat, I'm always the one to forgive and forget.... but not anymore!!!) I decided to just block her -she is one of those toxic people I don't need....
That being said, if you are blocked and you try to contact the person by sending a message, what comes up? Are they told they are blocked?
IO don't know... wanna try it out? I'll block you and you try to send me a message.
tell me if you want me to block you.

I believe it will appear to them that you aren't on facebook anymore. If she searches your name she wont see your profile. If you have mutual friends she wont see your comments on their wall etc.

Somehow when I first joined FB I somehow wasn't friends with Sweets13 anymore. I didn't take her off and she didn't take me off. We just noticed one day that it happened.
I was recently deleted from someone's friend list though and realized it because they used to do an obscene amount of updates a day that I wasn't getting them anymore! Sometimes getting de-friended is a good thing -- you don't have to read about other people's dramas anymore!

The funny thing is, we never really contacted each other - I don't know how long I was unfriended, I just wanted to pass a message to her, and searched through my friend list and was like where did she go. when I searched her on FB, I saw the "Send friend request" option.
no biggy. she is a psycho. I don't know why I tried. i don't know why there can't be one normal person in this family. Except for me, of course.

Honestly, I NEVER post anything on FB that I wouldn't mind the whole world seeing. Pictures of me, a few of my son, etc - I wasn't looking for this to be a huge expose on my life, just a place to catch up with people who live far away from me, and people on here who I like - that's IT.
If I don't want pictures of me pole dancing in my rainboots on some drunken night, I will not do it around people who would post that without asking. I lead a pretty boring life. My status updates are usually about how tired I am or what workout I am going to do tonight. SCANDAL!
But Liza thats just it...YOU dont have to post it...people can tag you in a photo, people can write on your wall "Wasnt it funny when we went pole dancing last fri"...YOU dont have to write anything. Someone can do it for you and it links to your acct.

Re: Can you "accidentally" get off someone's facebook friend list? ETA with another Question on bottom
I deleted my sister once. She is mentally ill and apparently we got in a fight, I was unaware it even happened. Well she posted a HUGE note about how I am *itch and all this awful stuff. I just decided that I didn't need to read it and I didn't need any of my friends seeing that. So DH and I deleted her. Well about 3 months passed and she must have noticed because she friend requested us again I accepted it in order to not cause drama..... I will probably delete her again in a while.
Since your SIL seems a little nuts herself, maybe she misconstrued something you said and that's why she did it. HOnestly, though, blocking her sounds like the best idea.

If they block you, they can't see your stuff either. Although they can temporarily unblock you to check you out!!!

I know that - but does that mean you can't see wall posts on a mutual friend's page?

I am thinking of scaling mine down as well. I talk to alot of regular friends and alot of girls from LIF parenting on facebook. Its great that ya find the extra people but what to say after the first initial "Hi" and you have nothing in common, I just dont know. I could see also doing what your SIL did myself. Reason being is that facebook is ALOT of fun BUT it is not private unless you make it SOOOO private that it is not fun at all. I hate when a family member writes what we are doing or where we went and then another family member knows my life and what I have done over the weekend etc... Its just soooo not private. Maybe this is why she deleted you To me its not personal its kinda like all of our FMs being displayed tomm for the heck of it... I know you can do inbox writing but then it becomes the same as just using plain AOL.
I agree with this. Myspace used to get a bad rap for being too public. And Facebook was supposed to be the answer. Oh really?? All I know is that on Myspace if I become friends with someone or comment on someone's photo or someome comments on mine- the whole world doesn't have to know about it. You can be private and that's it- nobody sees you unless you accept them and even then they don't see what you write on your friends pages- unless those pages are public. So dumb. I hate Facebook for that reason yeah but I thought you can change your privecy settings no?

But the blocker can unblock you, then read your stuff then re-block you and it will disappear. I think you should have the option to block someone who blocks you. People are crazy.
