Can you defrost chicken and then freeze it again?
DH said you can't, but I never heard of this before. I'm perfectly OK if the answer is no, but does anyone know why?

From what I know you never defrost meat and then re-freeze it.

You have to cook it first and then you can re-freeze it.

I know you already got an answer, but the rule of thumb is you can defrost meat, cook it and freeze it again, but you can't re freeze raw meat that has already been defrosted.

I read somewhere that if you defrost the meat in the fridge, you can refreeze it but I could never work up the nerve. I usually cook it and then refreeze.
