Can you paint over oil based paint with latex/water based paint?
Not sure if this can be done or if you have to use a special primer but can you paint over oil based wall paint with latex/water based paint?

No, you need a really good primer that is made for that. If you do paint over it, it will peel in no time.

As a rule, no because the latex paint will bubble and peel. Oil over latex is ok. But THIS will tell you how you can do it.

thank you. I will have to remove the old latex that is peeling b/c the previous owner painted some areas with latex over oil. Thanks for the great links.
