Can you put a crystal vase in the dishwasher?
if so, would you put it on the top or bottom rack? I am afraid to put it upside down on the bottom rack, but I don't think it will get throughly cleaned on the top

I normally wouldn't either. but one of my vases is really dirty and no amount of hand washing is working!

What type of crystal?
I have crystal Waterford vases that are safe to put in, but they have special instructions on the dishwahsr cycle.
I've never used it. I usually let it sit in my sink for a few hours in HOT soapy water.

I have but with a pinch of detergent on the rinse cycle only. No heat dryer....

it's a tapered vase and the diameter on the bottom is really small, so I can't reach the very bottom. that's the gross part 
now I don't know if I should chance it in the dishwasher

I have numerous times. If it fits on top I would put it there, if not, the bottom is ok too. I would set it on a gentle/crystal wash w/ no heat. I've never had anything crack or break on me.
