Can you recommend your baby toothpaste?

DD has 4 teeth and we haven't been using toothpaste yet. I have no idea what to even buy. So far we just use the piece that goes over our finger but I would like to graduate to an actual toothbrush

Re: Can you recommend your baby toothpaste?

Orajel toddler training toothpaste is what you should be using- you do NOT want there to be fluoride in it like normal adult toothpaste has since babies will swallow it and it can be toxic in large doses.
Also I highly recommend a toddler electric toothbrush since if you can get the brush even in the mouth the electric one will do better work for you than a manual as kids move and make effective manual brushing difficult GUM has a sesame street brush that is only a single round head that I found worked great for DS when he got his first teeth the other kids brushes have bigger heads that he hated. Target sells all of these items and they can actually all be found together in the kids dental area toothpaste and electric brushes.
Good luck!

Re: Can you recommend your baby toothpaste?

Our pediatric dentist told me that I didn't have to use a toothpaste. (The girls would just suck the toothbrush to taste the toothpaste)

Maybe I'll just start using the toothbrush with some water to start getting her used to it for now.

I just wet the brush and use it like that - no toothpaste yet, and she has 6 teeth now too.

I have the Orajel toothpaste. I came with a brush and I the paste comes in mixed berry or apple/banana.

DD sucks all the paste off of the brush before I even get through brushingChat Icon

Re: Can you recommend your baby toothpaste?

I asked my dentist when I went when I should start brushing her teeth & he said as soon as the first tooth comes in. I've been using the finger brush & the Grins & Giggles toothpaste(I think it is).

we use an organic brand - I think it's earths best - the flavor is strawberry banana. I still use the baby toothbrush that you put on your finger - but I need to get a real toothbrush. DD has 8 teeth and there are 4 more that are all breaking through at once.

Re: Can you recommend your baby toothpaste?

I used the Grins and Giggles one with the finger brush first and we recently graduated to the Orajel one with the toothbrush. He liked them both, but I personally had an easy time with the finger brush. Now he just wants to chew on the plastic of the toothbrush and I have a hard time doing anything with it.
